The hose isn't long enough. Makes you really get up close and personal. The valve should be on a longer hose. Despite the shape, it did not make a great seal for us.

I have a Travis Industries large flush wood insert which reeks the whole place when the weather is very humid in summer time. My fireplace is not equipped with a damper that could close the flue and the built-in "damper" of the insert does not close the flue at all, rather closes the fireplace a few inches below the flue, hence the smell coming out of the vents which cannot be closed at all. At first, I bought a flueblocker plug but it could not pass the tiny opening of the internal damper (it does not open all the way of the 6 inches opening) so I bought this balloon thinking it would do the job. Upon receiving of this item, I noticed immediately that the product description was not precise enough, I thought that the part inside the balloon on the pictures was a solid part but it is in fact a rubber band and the rigid pipe was way too short to pass the sharp assembly where the flue meets the insert. I then ordered a 16 inches extension knowing that it would be tricky to insert that thing assembled and I was right.... it was a pain to first insert the balloon, then insert and plug the extension, then insert and plug the inflating tubing. I don't know how it is going to be when comes the time to remove all of that for the winter... I wish the extension was flexible, really or at least, the assembly would be flexible. I don't know why the pipe is so short on this thing, it could easily be 12 inches. Let's hope, it will stop the stink at least!

Realized how much conditioned air I was losing through my chimney, especially in the summer, and this fit perfectly. It sealed up tight and was very easy to install and inflate with the included tube. I also like that it come with a small reminder tag to remove prior to winter and using the fireplace.

This was the answer to my no flue 84 year old fireplace! Easy to inflate and install and fit air tight.

I’ve installed it twice, and it has deflated on its own both times. There’s probably a leak somewhere since, as others have said, the plastic isn’t durable.Update: This is an absolutely useless product. I changed my rating from two stars to one. I've replaced it with a wool chimney stopper, which was easy to install and works perfectly.

It's been about a month since I installed balloons in two chimneys. It was easy to do and the instructions were clear. I've had no problems with deflation, and the tube for air hooked up easily to a battery powered pump for an air mattress. When there have been sudden extreme temperature changes, I've occasionally heard squeaking as they have flexed slightly with expansion or contraction, but that's not a problem; just be aware that it can happen - it's not surprising, after all, when you think about it. It may seem like a steep price for the materials used, but it's a whole heck of a lot cheaper than capping off a chimney. In fact, we do have one capped, but in both we've had granules of masonry flake off and fall in the firebox, making a mess. This has eliminated that.

The chimney bag arrived yesterday and I inflated it before I stuck it in the chimney to see if it would hold air. It did, so I tried it in the chimney. The 15x15 chimney bag was in the chimney for about 5mins then it fell out. I tride to reinflate the bag and I heard air leaking out of it. I pulled it down from the chimney to find it had a small hole in it. I thought the bags were supossed to be made thicker they so they can with stand any punctures, but that is not the case. I requested a return and refund and the company sent the prepaid label rite away. Thats a plus. I would not buy this type of bag again unless it is a thicker chimney bag.
