I have never had a yarn swift so cannot compare this one with others. What I can say is that this has made my life so much easier! It comes in a plastic case that is perfect for storage. It unfolds fairly easily although I did have an issue with the wingnut being stuck against another part when I first opened it up (I believe another reviewer had the same issue). It seems a bit flimsy being made of thin metal and plastic but it does what it is supposed to do. Instructions are easy to follow. Overall this is a great find and would make a great gift for someone that does yarn work.My Amazon rating system-Five stars-Great item. May have a minor flaw that does not detract from appearance or function.Four stars-Great item. Flaw or problem more noticeable. Or, price may be high for what it is.Three stars-Good item. I like the collapsible aspect and the easy storage for this swift. I don’t imagine it would stand up to extremely heavy use but I’m not planning on doing that so it’s a good fit for me.

This yarn swift is easy to set up and use, but it does take a bit of coordination. Securing it to the table was great - there is padding to protect your surface. The umbrella part raises and lowers with a clip and it glides smoothly. Once I had my hank of yarn on the swift and set up on my winder, everything went smoothly. I have never used a yarn swift before this, and I was so happy with how easily and quickly I was able to wind up my hank. Why had I been avoiding this all my life before?But, it’s not perfect. There were 2 small issues I had:1) There are 2 places where bare wire ends are exposed as it ties parts together. This shouldn’t impact the use of the swift because it’s in the middle, and the yarn sits outside. You shouldn’t have a reason to be reaching into the middle of the swift.2) When putting the swift back into its case, I didn’t realize that the case was rectangular and not square. There is a particular way to fit everything back in the case. Again, not a huge issue, just double check things as you put them in.Overall, I’m glad I got this swift! It will be very useful for my projects.
