The VW tool requires that you hold the tool into a small gap in the spindle while turning it with a ratchet or a square drive bar. It's challenging to use to say the least. This one is much easier, larger, and doesn't fall out of the spindle while using like the VW tool does. Additionally, it turns the tool you're using to turn it 90 degrees either way from how the VW tool is used. It is solidly built and looks like it'll last a lifetime.
