I’ve been in the market for a new black backpack for years now. The previous bag I purchased I had for about a decade. What I love about this bag is that I can carry it on my back but also bring on planes yet can carry so much. I absolutely love the compartments! I no longer take a suitcase because I can carry my on plane items as well as three nights worth of clothing. I do think it was unnecessary to have another slot for a second computer or iPad. Just adds more weight and unnecessary compartments but whatever! The belt quality is on point, super comfortable, and the zipper quality is fantastic

I am so inlove with the colorway that I got. I was really hoping to receive a darker front panel as i dont want it to get dirty easily when travelling.

I travel a lot, from airplanes, to cruise ships, automobile, and train. The demands on the right travel packs is important, and the size and durability are top on the must need for me.I chose the 28L Allpa mainly because I have used other 40L, 50L and 60L packs, and the right weight and comfort seem to land me at 28L. I do marry this pack with the Cotopaxi 38L roller for my complete travel plans because I normally have between 35-60L of stuff I pack for a 1-2 week vacation. The 28L is a great 1-2 day bag. It can hold for me 3 pair of socks and underwear, 3 shirts, 2 pants, 1 pair of shoes, shaving kit, tech bag and 13" laptop. Depending on the season, you may be able to pack more. When fully packed the Allpa sits comfortably on the back, and it has adjustment straps and a hip strap if needed to more adjustable comfort. The clam shell opening is great for access, and the mesh netting provides a bit more stability when packing and closing. The outer construction is a nice weather resistant material, and the side mesh water bottle pocket is a nice touch. There are handles on the top and bottom, and one on the side opposite of the bottle holder, which makes it ease to lift in and out of over heads, trunks, or under seats. The 28L Allpa can fit under a seat for plane travel, even fully packed. There are a total of 4 different compartments (zipper) that can be used, one small one in front for money, wallet, cellphone charging cable, a 1/4 zip pocket that can hold toiletry bag, keys, small items, the main compartment with has a full mesh zipper side and another side that is 3/4 size for shoes and other compactable items. The back has a velvet pocket that can fit up to a 15inch laptop, and an additional sleeve for a tablet of portable screen. All the zippers are color coded so you can know what compartment you are opening, and they are YKK durable. You can get the Allpa in a larger size, but I found this size manageable for me and my needs.

Had the previous version of this and the new update addresses many of my small nitpicks that I had, mainly the lack of water bottle pocket and the luggage pass through. Some notes- The material used on the front is far less grippy and rubbery as the previous model. I like the new one and it zippers more easily around the corners.- The inner pockets open to the inside as opposed to zippering to the outside.- The new smaller pocket at the top makes for quick storage of your wallet, keys, and other pocket items for those quick TSA security stops.- The water bottle fits my Owala bottle perfectly, which is rather slim. Wouldn’t fit any wider bottles.Makes for a great 3 day trip bag or a 4-5 day trip bag if you have access to a laundry. I’d take one day off if you’re packing thicker clothes or longer sleeve clothes.

Pack seems small on the outside, but I was able to pack 8 days worth of clothing (colder time of year, more layers = more items). If it would have been summer I could have packed a lot more. Sturdy. Comfortable. Grab handles are awesome. Zips and opens opposite of my daily pack, the Cotopaxi Tasra, which took a second to get used to. Not an issue though, just thought it was strange. Water bottle pocket is decent. Not my favorite h20 pocket, but it may be just because I had the pack stuffed full so it was more difficult to get the bottle in there, not “hard”, Just not as easy as I thought it should be (24oz Owala if wondering).Overall, I think this is the best pack for travel out of the many many many packs I’ve used. It exceeded my expectations for what I’d want for a week+ trip in one bag. I’d buy it again today if needed. I Love it.

This is the 3rd Cotopaxi bag I've punched. I travel a lot and have tried many many bags, these are the best. Not for camping but for travel. They hold a lot but everything is accessible and organized. Also a carry-on size.

This bag is like the Swiss Army knife of travel gear, but without the sharp objects. It’s perfect for a long weekend trip. If you keep the stuffing in check, it can fit as an under seat carry-on.Packing with the Cotopaxi Allpa 28L is an absolute dream thanks to the clam shell opening. Unzip the butter-smooth zippers, lay it flat, and everything is right there in front of you. No more digging through layers of clothes to find that one missing sock. The internal space management is a masterclass in simplicity and efficiency. If you’re looking for a travel backpack that will make you wonder why you ever wasted money on other bags, this is it. Cotopaxi, my bank account hates you, but my travel game has never been stronger.

The backpack is lighter than my previous North Face by at least one pound. I am able to pack so much more into this backpack. I especially like the open face construction and the zippered deep pockets on either side.
