It works as expected. Its maximum weight is 5 grams but it does come with a 5 gram calibration weight so really it would be a 10 gram max with the calibration weight. It works great though. My counterweight was close and at the upper end of the cartridge spec, but this is exact. Thank you.

With this super affordable scale, you'll know exactly how heavy your headshell and stylus are riding along on your precious vinyl records. The counterweights on your tone arm should get you close on proper pressure but they can be damaged sometimes. This seriously easy to use scale will get you precision. Your records will thank you. They'll last longer because they won't have a diamond stylus trying to carve it's way down through each of their grooves. Your stylus will last longer because it won't have the weight of the world pressing down on it. And once you've properly completed setting up your tone arm and stylus, your brain will appreciate it as you're hearing the music the way that it was intended to be heard. I love the peace of mind that I have in knowing that my turntable and all of its components (and my records too) will be around for many years because I bought this inexpensive piece to help ensure their safety with precision.

I almost sent this back because mine did not include an instruction sheet. I played with it long enough to figure out how it works. After calibrating, I checked my manual turntable and it seemed a bit off. I then re-tuned my tonearm and checked again. The reading appeared to be correct. I'm satisfied with the unit. One thing to note: If you have an automatic turntable that spins the platter when you move the tonearm to the platter, you will need to turn it off or unplug it to use the meter.
