  • Genuine CTS pots, the brand used by nearly every American guitar company for half a century!
  • 500k 10% audio-taper, mimics the logarithmic way humans perceive changes in volume better than any other taper.
  • 24-tooth knurled split-shaft, designed for plastic knobs that push on.
  • 3/8-32 bushing thread is 3/8" diameter, 1/4" long. For mounting to pickguards or control plates.
  • CTS low torque design (dimpled back) is easy to turn, this is the style used on Strats since the 1950s.

This is a 4-pack of our CT-450S3928 500k pots. CTS pots are the standard of the industry for good reason. Used by Gibson and Fender for many, many years, they are easily the most trusted brand in guitar pots. Ours are made specifically for us by CTS, to their tightest tolerance (10%). Appropriate hardware in included: lockwasher (use inside the guitar), flat washer & nut (use outside the guitar). The right parts to get the job done.

500k pots can be hard to find with the short threaded bushings that are ideal for mounting to pickguards and control plates. Ours are made for us using the CTS low-torque design that makes them easy to turn, like the ones that Fender uses (which are also made by CTS). These have a split-shaft design that is perfect for push-on plastic knobs that have no teeth molded in (like Fender knobs) or that have 24 teeth molded in (like Gibson knobs).

After buying hundreds of off-brand pots over the years at lower prices, these are now my go-to choice. Buy these. Higher quality and closer to spec than many off-brand options.

Only one of the four pots was just barely within 10% tolerance (452k); the other three were even lower.

Not as smooth turning as the factory installed pots on my squier affinity strat. Other than that work great, bright sound. Used with high output single coil from Lamsam.

I almost always use CTS brass shaft pots and have never had one fail. This latest batch of 4 all had resistance of 475 to 495K. The shafts on these are very short. They are great for mounting on a pick guard, but you need the long shaft ones for most rear mounting situations.I had a crazy problem on my last repair. Not the CTS pot's fault, but something to watch out for. The terminals on these pots pass through a little board and are exposed on the top of the board. It is possible for them to get grounded out if you install the pot over shielding paint or foil. Not likely on a flat surface, but it happened to me in a control cavity where the owner had hogged out wood and left an irregular surface. Much head scratching ensued before I realized why tightening the nut caused the tone pot to stop working.

They work, but feel gritty and free when turning them.It could be personal preference, but I like a stiffer smooter feel to my pots for guitar purposes.

These are not just “Short Shaft” pots, they are “Extra Short” shafts. Been buying CTS pots for 25 years, and wasn’t aware that they even made shafts this short. Too short for my LP.

Great for cutting down the treble. If your looking for treble, stick to 250k pots. Yes....thats what their used for.
