About this item

  • DEMMEX Turkish Greek Arabic Copper Coffee Pot.
  • Handmade in Turkey.
  • Material : 1mm Copper - Food Safe Tin Lining - Wooden Handle.
  • Capacity : 7 Oz, Makes 2-3 Cups of Turkish Coffee.

All of our Turkish coffee makers are made with copper and are 100% lead free. Copper is the choice of the gourmet professionals for cooking. It is considered the finest practical conductor of heat. Its primary advantage is that it requires only low to moderate heat to obtain the best results. This is why copper is the perfect material to use for Turkish coffee pots called “cezve” (pronounced “ jezz-va” ). With little care, your coffee maker can provide you with many years of service and pleasure. Each wood handle on our pots are turned on a lathe and individually stained (color may vary) and attached to our pots with a brass connectors to ensure leak free use for many years. We also make sure that handles do not wobble and are securely attached. Finally our pots, like all copper cookware, are coated with tin inside which is a healthy metal that is required by our bodies. However, tin is not cheap and some manufacturers mix lead with it. We use only 100% lead free tin inside our pots. Each pot is individually wrapped with cellophane to prevent oxidation before shipment so that it is shiny as our pictures when you get it. CARE : You can use the commercially available cleaning materials for copper or tin to clean your coffee pot if you need to, but remember it’s OK to let your pot turn dark. It adds character! Outside: Non abrasive pad or sponge is the best. Inside: Tin is a soft metal and should be cleaned with a dishcloth or sponge only. Never use abrasive cleaning materials like scouring pads or metal scrapers on your coffee pot. Rinse thoroughly after washing and dry to avoid spotting.

I'm new to Turkish coffee and I have no basis for comparing this cezve, so my opinion is just a first impression. The cezve is hefty-- it does not feel like thin sheet metal. The outside is shiny copper, hammered with a simple dimple pattern. The inside is tinned with a shiny silver metal, presumably tin. After several uses, both metals are still shiny. The handle attachment is molded brass, riveted to the pot, with a wood-threaded shank (normal right hand threads, not left hand) screwing into the wood handle. The rivets are tinned on the inside. The handle is varnished wood, threaded onto the handle attachment. The cezve I bought is for 2-3 Demitasse Cups. Using 7 g (.25 oz) coffee and 100 ml (3.38 fl oz or 6.75 Tbsp) water, which seems to be a good individual portion, the cezve is filled to capacity. I do not have a good heat source so I use my old fashioned electric stove to heat the cezve. This is a crude way to do it, but the cezve seems to conduct heat readily, and stops heating when removed from contact with the burner. In my view, the heat is well conducted for purposes of heating the coffee to just the right simmering temperature. The cezve came with a little wood spoon to stir the coffee, and I'm still using it so it has proved useful. If I have any concern about quality, it is that eventually the wood handle will split and come off the threaded attachment. To help prevent this I put some caulk on the threaded attachment to resist water penetration. In short, this cezve is a delight to use.

I purchased some fine-grind Turkish coffee and realized I needed a coffee maker to prepare it properly. I tried using a pot but the copper type of Turkish coffee maker looked so much better. They used to be available in the stores but no longer. The Demmex came up on an online search and I thought it looked so beautiful and perfect for what I needed. I chose the single cup although there were larger ones available. It works great and I impressed my friends with a tasty cup of Turkish coffee. Then I watched a video of how they are made, it is so impressive! Bravo to the hard-working copper hand-crafters in Turkey.

This is an excellent product. I think it might have been the cheapest, looks beautiful and very sturdy. Handle is substantial and good angle for the 3 boil method of brewing Turkish coffee. You need this to keep you away from the heat with the small pot. Very authentic.

I bought the 7oz capacity. It is a very efficient little pot! The capacity is decent, I should’ve ordered a larger size, though, because I usually make coffee for two and my demitasse cups hold a little bit more than the briki can fit. I have a glass stovetop and the metal is so thin and conductive that you have to keep a close eye on it to make sure it doesn’t boil over—I usually end up having to scrub coffee off of my burners because I’m careless. I’m very happy with the purchase, though! The copper is slowly oxidizing, which makes for a really pretty patina.

The cezve is enough to make about 1/2 - 1/3 of a mug; slightly more than one serving in usual demi-tasse, but definitely less than two servings. Having said that, I was somewhat concerned about how solid the cezve is, but the handle and the cup is very solidly connected, and after having used it for 3 weeks, very sturdy. I expect to be using this cezve for a long time.

im in love with this tiny cezve! so beatiful and cute and high quality.for 12 dollar you must get it***update-10 month later***I did not use it too much. it began to cover itself with nice patina(can be cleaned of course) and still can testify that the pot is high quality! but for knowledge it is not a pot for one person but for 2.-3True Turkish coffee is around 60 milliliters so on second thought i should have bought a smaller one.
