Spent 2 days and a lot of cussing trying to replace the rack and pinion on my 07 Nissan Xterra. Once in, it worked fine. No leaks… thankfully. I don’t know if I’d want to do that again if it didn’t work. If you’re doing this, lower the drive shaft. It makes it easier in the long run.

I purchased this power steering rack and thought it would be here in a few days as described. They sent an email that it would be a little later than expected, which was not a big deal for me as I understand shipiping delays. I ended up purchasing one from our local Advance Auto and emailed Detroit Axle to let them know that I would be sending it back once I received it. Anyway, when they sent it, the box was busted up (which was shipping and not the company) and I took pictures and let them know. They informed me that they would have to inspect the item before sending the refund, which I understood, but it took several days before they let me know that I would receive the refund. After trying to call them to find out about the refund, they let me know that it has not yet been approved and would take 5-7 business days. They let me know that the item is ok, but they did not refund the full amount - they acutally kept $70+. So I had to spend some time on the phone with Amazon to file a complaint. I wanted the complete refund as they received the complete item. I will NEVER buy anthing else from this company!!!

I purchased this and was surprised when I received a call letting me know that it was a little delayed. That was fine and I appreciated them getting back to me and letting me know. When i received the item, it was packaged very well. However, the finish was removed very easily on install and the input on the steering shaft began leaking almost immediately. I used Nissan recommended power steering fluid, then also tried lucas' power steering stop leak. It's not a large leak, but enough to annoy me. I would put it in for a warranty, but I don't want to replace it again for a 'maybe' it won't leak.Seemed to be a decent company and the person that called me was very nice. However, need a little more QC and possible testing.
