Not flakes as described in write up. One solid mass, very hard to work with look for different brand. Next time would not recommend it very hard to dissolve.

I do custom woodworking on commission and use shellac frequently as a sealer. This is high quality shellac and is my preferred brand.

I use shellac flakes all the time for finishing and sealing. Dissolves fast! This is a quality product, you won't have any problems.

Highly recommend this shellac. I’ve used this product for years and always have consistent results. Fast drying and versatile, it’s hard to beat shellac. I usually mix with the garnet version to make a tinted sander sealer. It’s easy to mix up and spray. Always nice to have a fast drying finish to speed things up.

You can make several batches of shellac with these flakes. They come in small flakes that are very easy to break down into a finer powder. I tested it on several different woods and with most woods that have a color to them it dries completely clear which is what I was aiming for. With just basic pine it has a slight yellowness to it. I used it to create a French polish finish on a desk and it turned out beautifully. I have made several batches and still have a lot left in the bag. Would recommend for anyone looking for a nice and unique sturdy finish.

Only reason it got 4 stars rather than 5 is because it showed up as a solid lump of flakes I had to break apart. Once I did that, everything was great. I will be purchasing again.
