Not a doorman product like advertised… no numbers stamped on it like the picture showed and legit like half the board is missing parts compared to the doorman that is originally there. Don’t buy this, waste of time!!!

My Ford Explorer was sticking in Park more frequently. Looked online for a fix and found that this was the part that might solve the problem. While it was very hard to get to, it was not impossible. Once I removed the center console, the switch was easy. No more issues getting out of Park.

Great price, not too bad to install, and fixed the Explorer shift lever not getting out of park. FYI, it is not a problem with the brake switch if the brake light are working.

exact replacement, also my O/D switch started working again, I think it my run through the small black connector, which was crudded up, so this new one fixed that too

No one wants to have to replace this part, and when you do, you’ll think the engineers placed it and made it annoying on purpose. However, that’s no fault of this part. If you take the time to remove the center console, the removal of the old and installation of this specific part is complete in 2 minutes.To be clear, this part is a shift interlock that is tied to the driver depressing the brake before shifting into gear. If that stopped working, the original part is likely the culprit and this part will restore your functionality as soon as you’re done. I’ve done it previously on a different vehicle so when it occurred on my Explorer, I was done in under a half hour with the console removal and reinstallation.

We helped a neighbor out by putting this in their 2010 Mercury Mountaineer after it was stuck in park. It fits and does the job; the car comes out of park now.Some people say that you can do this repair without removing the entire center console (i.e. by only removing the top panel) but I couldn't swing that. I needed to remove the whole center console, but this was still an easy fix. I found that the price here on Amazon was about 20-30% lower than auto parts stores are charging. I can't comment on the durability yet.

We ordered this product because our 2007 Ford Explorer was not shifting properly out of park. This product was a bit difficult to install but once we got it installed it solved the problem and the vehicle now works properly.

Taking out the white box wasn’t bad, and changing the shift interlock module (chip) was easy as well.HOWEVER ... putting the box back into its place AND connecting the wires back to it .... a horrible headache.First and foremost, get something large to stick between the black plastic tube and the area with the wires. This will make the work so much easier.Furthermore, using a young relative (son, nephew, etc...) to put the wires back into the white box. Just instruct them to put which wires where.Other then the headache of installing, it works perfectly and it fixed my problem without any further complications.
