This adapter works better than the similar drop in filter version by Canon because the one Canon manufactures can not attain infinite focus with my Canon 16mm - 35mm 2.8L lens. It's also better value because it comes with a clear drop in glass that doesn't come with the one by Canon.

I’ve used two other filter holding EF to RF adapters including the OEM one. Based on memory, this seems to be a complete duplicate of the OEM version that sells for $400. I can find no performance difference between all three.I only have one EF lens left since I moved to the Canon R system. It works perfectly with this adapter. The drop in variable ND filter works surprisingly well given it goes from minimum to maximum in about a half turn. The ND filter does work with still images but I think the most use it’ll get is allowing adjustment of shutter speeds for video work. As I understand it, the ideal shutter speed for video is 2x the frame rate or about 1/50 for 24 fps.The manufacturer also includes an optically clear drop in filter because something must be in the filter slot of the adapter or there’ll be a light and dust leak into the camera and lens. The other manufacturer’s filter/adapter I used as well as the OEM offers additional drop in filters such as a circular polarizer. It’s my opinion that both other makers’ drop in filters will work with this adapter. I plan on ordering a CPL but just to make sure, I’ll only buy if I have return privileges.Having the variable ND or CPL filter as a drop in allows me to keep the UV/protective filter on the front of the lens because the separation will eliminate the refractive loss of quality two filters near each other can cause. In sum, if there’s a difference in performance between this adapter and the OEM $400 one, I can’t detect it.

I recently acquired this adapter to enable the use of my Canon EF lenses, as well as any other EF lens, with my RED Komodo camera. I'm pleased to report that the adapter seamlessly fits the camera and the tested EF lenses, transmitting full metadata information effortlessly. In addition to its adaptability, this product comes with a convenient drop-in variable ND filter and a clear filter, providing flexibility based on your shooting needs.During my testing, the adapter performed admirably with a set of Rokinon Xeen lenses, demonstrating its versatility. The variable ND function works well, delivering no perceivable color cast. However, I did encounter a minor inconvenience with the small dial button for adjusting the ND intensity. It demands more attention than expected, making it less suitable for on-the-fly adjustments during a shot transition from a dark interior to a bright exterior. One aspect worth noting is the absence of a clear indication of the number of stops the ND filter is cutting. To determine this, you'll need to rely on in-camera tools like false colors or the camera's waveform. It would be a valuable enhancement if the product featured an external visual marking system, similar to how focus and aperture are displayed on cine lenses.Despite these minor considerations, I find this adapter to be an overall excellent product that met my expectations. Its seamless integration with the RED Komodo and reliable performance with various lenses make it a valuable addition to my equipment arsenal.

Great way to be able to use my old lenses on my Cannon R100! The added feature of the drop-in ND filter is a real bonus too because I always use an ND filter anyway. Super convenient, and very well made. Nice threads and I couldn't be happier.

I had tried most of these third party adapters with a drop in filter, and found they tend to have critical focus issue at infinity, specially with ultra wide angle lens such as Sigma 20mm F1.4 ART. I was pleasantly surprised that this adapter has no such focus issue! I have found the very best aftermarket EF to RF adapter with drop in filter, that works exactly like Canon original. I have also tried the regular EF to RF adapter from this same brand and that also works flawlessly with every of my Canon, Sigma and Tamron EF lenses. I have tested both these adapters with Canon 100mm F2.8 Macro, 70-200mm F2.8L, 100-300mm F4-5.6L, 24-70mm F2.8L, Canon 300mm F4L, Sigma 20mm F1.4 Art, Sigma 105mm F1.4 Art, Tamron 15-30mm F2.8; all focuses critically at infinity.
