I needed an extender so the lamp shade would fit over the enlarged LED bulbs. This gadget solves the problem perfectly! It sits on top of the bulb socket but once you attach the lamp harp and screw in the bulb it stays in place. I have not had any problems with this and would recommend it.

Iām sure this is my fault for not thinking it through, but the adapter will not stay on the base of the lamp without something to screw down on top of it to hold it on. The opening on my lamp base where the bulb goes on does not screw off so the adapter just teeters on there because it cannot be tightened to fit the lamp. I could not use these.
