The KITfanz consists basically of the espresso coffee maker and an electrical heating element (550W).I used it with finely grounded espresso beans with filtered water. After about 5 minutes, water will start to boil (water at the MAX level). You have to listen when the percolating noise stops, and your coffee will be ready.I filled 1cup (200ml/6.7oz) of coffee, and not the 10oz max in the description. Coffee was VERY HOT.There was absolutely no foam and the taste was just OK, compared to my daily use 20bar espresso machine that makes excellent espresso but also costs many times more than a Kitfanz maker.Make sure you let the coffee maker to cool down before cleaning. An inconvenience was trying to remove the funnel filter basket from the boiler/water chamber, they fit snugly and there is a very narrow lip, making the cleaning process of the parts a little difficult (see image). I had to employ a knife to separate the two parts. This Aluminum machine started to tarnish after a few uses, this is mentioned in the instructions (among the many safety notices) and is normal. Maybe there is such thing as a stainless steel model?.There is a small drain hole on the electrical boiling base, a great safety addition.

I wanted to try a moka pot and wanted electric just for convenience. This item works perfectly. It is small which I only mention because I use it for one cup of coffee, in the morning. If you wanted a second cup for a friend, the pot is way too hot and needs to be cooled down. I did purchase this with a today only deal or coupon.

Works the same as any Moka Pot, Great for those without gas option in their home or dorm. I have the Moka Pot that I use daily on the gas stove, this electric version is perfect for my college daughter in her dorm room.

It has a really nice heft to it, it feels high quality. It comes with a reducer disk, which I haven't seen in any of my Moka pots before. It allows you to use fewer coffee grounds when you're brewing a 3-cup cycle and still get high-quality brewing. It did have a noticeable effect. It does automatically stop once it hits the boiling point. It also lists has having boil-dry protection, but I would still suggest unplugging it when not in use.It makes quite a nice coffee, although due to its all-in-one design, you're not really going to be able to do some recommended moka pot things. You can't get it off the hot plate once it starts sputtering, and you won't be able to cool it down by running cold water on the pot to stop the steeping process quickly. You probably aren't going to start with already boiling water either. However, it's very convenient and great for my work desk.It did arrive with some odd substance in the cracks inside the boiling pot, I'm not certain what it was except silver-brown and mushy. I recommend washing and doing a few straight boilings to sanitize it before using. The wooden pieces are easily unscrewed to do a deep clean.
