This anatomical model is of good quality and is nicely detailed although it does not include features such as the nerves or blood vessels as mentioned in both the title and product description. It does show the skeletal elements of the lower leg and the calcaneus (one of the ankle bones) long with some of their bony features. The muscle groups acting on the ankle and foot are well represented and the orientation of the muscle fibers help with matching the individual muscles up with the labeled diagram. I especially like the cross section showing the relationship between the tibia and fibula as well as the arrangement of the deeper muscles. The ligaments and tendons are well done making it easier to trace their pathways and understand how the muscles exert their actions. I appreciate that the diagram included is a picture of the actual model, and is not just a labeled diagram from an atlas or textbook as is the case with so many models at this price point. The model is compact and light-weight but it is not flimsy. The wood (bamboo?) base is really nice -- it is quite heavy and much sturdier than the bases of most of the small anatomical models I have ordered over the years. The base has a strong stainless steel rod that inserts into bottom of the heel to hold the model. The model can easily be removed to view it from different angles and I think it will hold up very well to frequent use. I think this model would be an excellent aid for A&P students, or those pursuing a career in the health field. It wouldn't be out of place in a basic lab or general medical office. I think the price is very reasonable. The model arrived nicely packaged in a sturdy box.

I have two foot/ankle models because each is good for learning different aspects of anatomy. My other one is mostly bones with a few key ligaments and it can actually move a little.I needed another model that would show the tendons and ligaments better. This one does just that. It's very nicely done as far as looking like someone actually dissected a foot, with the toes looking like skin and the ankle showing where the bone would have been cut through. It is raised and grooved appropriately for all the tendons etc.It does not move AT ALL. It's very hard plastic. It feels a little counter intuitive to have it one solid piece when it's all about the flexible parts in the foot. But it works well because it would be way too hard having it built from parts the way a skeleton is.MSK is often the hardest for my students to handle because it can feel like just a lot of memorizing rather than learning more physiology. This model helped enormously with understanding origins and insertions that are painted on my other (boney) model.I'm not including photos because it looks exactly like the photos. So that's nice to actually get what you think you're getting.
