E-Z LOK threading insert for soft wood is ideal for applications where stripping or thread erosion is possible. These wood threading tools are perfect for ready-to-assemble furniture, drawer pulls, display cases, crating, and anywhere a fastener will be used in soft wood. E-Z Hex drive threaded inserts provide sturdy machine threads in soft woods. They feature broad external threads that provide exceptional holding power. They are designed for use with materials such as pine, plywood, composition board, and MDF. These zinc thread inserts are available in Type D (flanged) or Type E (flush) insert nuts in multiple lengths.

I used these to attach external shelves to an Ikea Malm dresser. The sides are MDF. Drilling carefully and then inserting the flanged threaded insert from inside the dresser made it possible to securely attach the shelves without damaging the MDF. I used some wood glue on the outer threads of the insert to help hold the fibers together. That might have been unnecessary.The E-Z LOK inserter tool was OK to use, but it stripped the hex end of one insert. Using an m4 screw with a nut on it allowed me to finish the installation with a screwdriver from inside the dresser.

Worked perfectly for mounting arcade joysticks. Much more secure than just wood screws.

We were looking for something like this for all of our screen doors which go on and come off at the end of the season at our cottage. The holes were stripping out, so these were perfect! So happy to find them at a great price. We needed125.

Good external and internal threads. This is excellent for mounting drawer pulls as long as you have about 5/8" mounting depth. Actually needs only about 1/2" to mount, but you need a little margin not to punch through the wood.
