Its exactly what it says. Its metal and chrome covered. Though many were simply removed from early Fender guitars, the Jaguars, Jazzmasters and Mustangs of the 60's pretty much all came with them.

This item is meant to use pressure to cover the bridge but it actually mutes abuzzes the strings. Wanted to return it but the wi dows had just closed and now I doubly feel like I overpaid for what it is. In fact the chrome paint chipped off of it. It isnt even real metal, just painting plastic

Bought for a brand-new Vintera '60s Jazzmaster. Like another reviewer, I replaced the bridge saddles with the Graph Tech String Savers (which are awesome, BTW).This cover fit on the stock bridge perfectly – no tweaking, compressing, or modification needed at all. Looks amazing – gives the guitar a fantastic vintage-appropriate look.Guitar is totally playable with the cover on – though depending on where your strumming hand rests, you may not be able to palm mute. But the cover pops on and off effortlessly, so you can go from jamming to displaying on the wall with no problem.

This works just like it is s'posta... but if you 'palm mute'... it is only in the way.It looks good on the guitar, but is a nuisance when trying to play.. it IS nice though, if you just sit your guitar in the corner and look at it.

It fit Mustang style bridge. You might have to (very slightly) bend the edges in for a snug fit. Looks rad. Doesn't interfere with playability, but makes palm muting a little awkward.

I always wanted a Jazzmaster. So, I bought an American Professional Jazzmaster last year. Then I came to grips with the worst bridge design Fender ever produced. The fix was apparent in that I purchased and installed a set of Graph Tech HEIGHT ADJUSTABLE bridge saddles. Worked great. Looked terrible. THEN I remembered Fender offered a bridge cover on their Jazzmaster and Jaguar models. Amazon to the rescue with one authentic Fender JM bridge cover. Looks so good and it fit perfectly.

Got this for my American Professional Jaguar just to look cool. It took some crimping with pliers in order to tighten it to stay on the bridge. Also, if I press it down too far, it will start hitting the strings. So it can be a bit more of a pain to work with than expected. Also, it makes palm muting a bit trickier. But such is the price for some extra bling on your guitar.
