1st off - Another review pointed out the gap between the hood and the lens. Yes, there is a gap, but its behind where light can leak in and hit the lens, so the hood still does its job. Not only that, but I suspect the gap is to make sure it fits more cameras and lens.It's made of strong enough plastic. It's large enough to guard against glare and, doesn't block any of the shot, and does the other helpful stuff like blocks anything from hitting the lens.Best tip someone told me - When storing the camera in the bag, take the hood off, turn it around, and put it back on.I would put up photos of how it fits and works and stores, but Amazon seems to have turned off this feature...

After our original canon lens hood broke we were in need of a replacement and ordered this one as it was one of the few that were available sooner rather than later.Overall this is a quality lens hood for the canon 50mm 1.8 stm lens when setting this next to our original one it is nearly identical and appears of the same quality.Pros-fits lens correctly- easy to put on and remove- fits on backwards well for travel or times win it is not necessary, however, this makes it more difficult to focus manually- great price (under $10)- easy to read brand + model - we love the model number on there as it is so much easier to quickly grab the correct one when you own multiple lens hoods for different lensesCons- Light leak around lens - this is on all lens hoods I have owned with the exception of screw on and doesn't affect the pictures because of its location3 Month UpdateOverall we are still extremely satisfied and have not had any problems with it.

I am very pleased with this product overall. I have used it quite a bit and have been very pleased with the results. It does it's job well. I was skeptical about how it would fit, as well as the quality of the product based on price, but I ordered it anyway and I am glad I did. It fits very well and attaches just fine to my Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 STM lens. You attach it by lining up the red dot on the product to the red dot on the lens and then turning the product clockwise until you hear it click. You take it off by pushing the little button on the hood and then turning it counterclockwise until you line up the red dots again and then pull it off. If you want to see a visual of how to attach the hood to the lens, you can just go to YouTube and type in, "How to attach Fotasy Bayonet Lens Hood to the Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 STM lens". Good buy.

Cheaper alternative to the genuine Canon lens hood for the new 50mm STM. Clicks on just right. Nice fit. Attaches to barrel and not the element, so it's exactly as it should be. Must-have for any 50 STM as it doesn't come with a stock lens hood and the Canon ones cost too much for zero benefit (only the top end Canon lens hoods matter, as they have a felt material liner, the lower end ones are the same plastic as anything else, save your money).

This lens hood is great. It's an inexpensive alternative to Canon's original part which they charge an arm and three legs for.There is a debatable issue of fit, as some other reviewers have mentioned. There're areas around where the hood attaches to the lens that let light through, but I highly doubt this has any effect on photos since it would just be letting some light go past your lens (from your camera body towards your subject).The fit is otherwise great. The hood locks into place, something I appreciate as I've been known to accidentally bump objects with the lens hood and almost lost a different hood because it came off so easily. To remove this hood, you have to press the release button and twist, so rest assured, it isn't going anywhere, but even if it did, at this price point, I'd just buy another one.

My son asked me to order this hood for his camera because I have Prime and he doesn't. He wanted it fast. He paid me for it. Having said all of that. he says this lens hood is a near replica of the OEM one. It has the same mechanism as the original and fits perfectly. He feels the hood is durable and will hold up for a long time. He was very happy with the price. He looked elsewhere for one and the prices were much higher. He told me to rate this 5 stars because he can't find a single thing to complain about. It is as good as the original.

Does its job, compared to the one from another manufacturer this one does not feel solid and lets light through the threaded part at the end. Can't go wrong with the price but I'll be looking to replace mine with something more solid.

La verdad es que el material se siente resistente y no molesta al enfocar. Ensamblo en la lente a la medida y se ve muy bien montado en la cámara. Al momento de tomar las fotos elimina viñeteos generados por la luz incidente. Estoy contento con el producto.
