In addition, since the end of the lens is extended, you also get the added benefit of some extra protection from accidental impact. The bayonet mount allows you to reverse mount the hood making it easy to store in your camera bag.

It fits very well on Canon EF-S 55-250mm F/4-5.6 is STM Lens. It's a bit tight that you'll need a bit of force to remove it. Same on reverse. There's no way it will fall off from the lens. Will buy again if ever needed.

A perfect fit and at a fraction of the price of Canon’s hood.

It does the job it's meant to do. I think it's a good product.I didn't find the hood to be too flimsy or to be difficult to mount/dismount.I found it difficult though to put the lens cap on when I also had the hood on because I have short and thick fingers. But I added a UV filter on the lens and that was enough to solve my issue.

Here I find many negative reviews. But most of the buyers had purchased wrong item, so they can not use the lens hood. Actually, this hood is made for Canon 55-250mm STM lens. It will not fit on non-STM lens.It fits on 55-250mm STM lens only. If your lens is non-STM, it will not fit. If your lens is other than Canon 55-250mm STM, it will not fit. Please keep in mind -- ET-63 is for Canon 55-250mm STM lens, ET-60 is for Canon 55-250mm IS II , ET-73C for Canon 10-18mm lens, EW-63C for Canon 18-55mm STM, and EW 60C for Canon 18-55 IS II Lens. So before buying any lens hood, you should know the exact model number of the Canon hood. The hood made by Fotodiox is a cheap version of original Canon hood. But it is worth to buy. The price of original Canon hood is unreasonably higher. I do not think that the substitute of original Canon hood is of low quality. Canon also uses a small piece of plastic, nothing different from Fotodiox.A lens hood is used to block the unnecessary sun rays or other light sources to prevent glare and lens flare. Lens hoods may also be used to protect the lens from scratches and the elements without having to put on a lens cover. The lens hood made by Fotodiox fits perfectly on my 55-250mm STM lens. I will highly recommend it for Canon lens users. I have also checked other models made by Fotodiox and may certify that the lens hoods made by Fotodiox are at par of original Canon.

I'm an amateur with great aspirations. I used this hood for the first time with family on the beach. I noticed a difference right away that the "lighting" was so much better. The hood attaches easily and with just the slightest effort, is easily removed, but not so easy that I worry about it not staying on. Very happy with it.

This is going to work for me. I'm using it to, first and foremost, protect the lens so I don't have to pull the cap on and off for fast shooting. This is going to do the trick. It also protects the lens in a crowd. Ever had a drunk person run into you and your camera? I have. Of course it also shades the lens from the sun, but that's not why I bought it. The price or right and the happy with the product.

After reading some reviews about troubles with mounting this lens hood, especially inverted, I decided the savings was worth the risk for my Canon 55-250 stm lens. This is my second Fotodiox hood, the first being for my 18-55 stm which is a petal-style rather than this dog cone style hood.So far, it's mounted very well both normal and inverted. Inverted at first didn't feel like it was going on right, upon some inspection it just needed a little more push to get mounted straight. The mounting has tabs to lock it into place, it has a comfy snap when it's locked, nicer than the last inexpensive hood for my old 55-250 IS which just twisted right past its lock point.I haven't had any reflections inside the hood, it does its job and didn't cost an arm and a leg.

Compared to a Canon hood, the anti glare texturing on the inside of the hood is slightly less effective. That's the whole difference between this hood and the Canon hood. The plastic is not overly thin or brittle, but let's be honest, 20 years down the road you probably will see some difference between this and a Canon hood that cost three times as much.
