I've been elated to use this thermal camera. It has to be paired with the manufacturers app which isn't perfect, but for the price of the system, it's pretty good. The app is free and I haven't seen any ads (it better stay that way). The app allows a lot of flexibility with settings and storing pictures is easy.We used this system to find a lost chicken in our backyard (Atilla the Hen) one night after she didn't come in the roost. We searched for an hour before remembering I had this camera. Maybe 10 min later I noticed that one bush under the deck glowed brighter than the others and sure enough, she was under it. The camera survived the ensuing wrestling match as well without issue. Glad I had this!

Upon receiving the package, I was excited about the unboxing experience. I was curious to see real thermal images, which had fascinated me ever since watching the Terminator movie 😊.The package included the camera (of course), a manual, a USB-C cable, a USB-C to USB adapter, a storage bag, and a cleaning cloth. Everything was in good condition. The camera itself is made of metal, giving it a sturdy appearance.Following the setup procedure in the user manual, I successfully downloaded the app without any issues. The download process was straightforward. I first explored the app to familiarize myself with its features and how they could benefit me in my explorations. The app allows you to choose your preferred temperature unit. There were calibration options available, but I didn’t tamper with them. When you point the camera at an object or location, it displays temperature measurements, allowing you to compare temperature variations based on your needs. The app also lets you document your exploration by taking photographs or videos, which can be downloaded by connecting the camera to a computer.I used the RT100 Thermal Camera to troubleshoot my heating system. One of my rooms was colder than the others. I suspected a lack of insulation in the walls, a leaky window, or insufficient heat distribution from the furnace. As shown in the attached picture, I previously used a Fluke thermometer, but since it doesn’t provide images, troubleshooting was more challenging.Using the thermal camera, I was able to pinpoint the cold spots in the room. It provided color-coded images along with temperature readings, helping me identify the problem. I wouldn’t have known that heat was escaping faster in that room due to missing attic insulation. The previous homeowner-or perhaps an electrician-had removed some of the insulation.I look forward to using this camera for more projects. I’ve shared my experience with friends, but not all of them can borrow it since an Android phone is required. I highly recommend this unit! I’m happy to have one!

I have to say that I can't stop using this Foxwell RT100 thermal camera for all kinds of applications. It simply plugs into the USB-C charging/data socket of your phone and once you download the FoxIR app, you get to see the world under a much different light. Right from the first screen, the FoxIR app makes it extremely easy to read your environment by dynamically adjusting the color range of the live image based on the lowest and highest temperature currently visible along with clear temperature readings across key points of your view. It does this very fast too, so when reading the temperature coming out of your heater or AC vent, it will show accurate and subtle variations in temperature depending on your specific angle of viewing. You can also record video or stills using the app functions as well having full access to the all of the settings and image options. If you're new to thermal imagery, there are quite a few videos out there that show you the many uses of this type of camera, how it detects infrared radiation in the form of heat and how to improve your imagery analysis. The FoxIR app was easy to download and set up on my Samsung Galaxy phone so I personally had no issues with the app on my Android device. Once installed, you should get a pop-up on your phone the second that the camera is connected. Be aware that if you have a thicker phone case, as I do, the connection may not be stable. I didn't have any issues with my phone case removed but to save me having to remove it each time I needed to use the camera, I acquired an inexpensive USB-C extender which solves this problem (see photos). Also, if you have other connectable imaging devices (I have a digital microscope) that also uses its own app, be sure to select to FoxIR app and choose "just once" on your phone to ensure there are no conflicts with your other imagery apps.So far, I've used this camera to help with AC diagnostics, spot poorly insulated areas around the house, checking cords and plugs for over-heating issues, just to mention a few. The camera itself is relatively small but still has a little weight to it. It comes with a protective case, a USB-C extension cable, a user manual and a lens cloth. Other than issue from my thicker protective phone case, the only other issue I had was locating the folder on my phone where the images and video are saved. They were not located in any of the usual places in my file system and surprisingly not in folders created by the app. However, I was still able to share images using the app to get access to them on another device. At around $300, this is a little expensive but the high resolution and accurate functioning of this camera make it well worth the price and so it gets 5 stars.

This was super easy to set up. Just download the app, plug in the camera, the app pops up, and you can take photos or video right away. I have not explored all of the options on the app, but there appears to be a lot. If you plug in the camera facing toward you, you can see yourself, otherwise turn the camera around to face forward. I immediately looked for things to take pictures and my dog walked up. You can see where her body is hotter than other parts. She is a very hairy dog, and other than her face, the areas that light up orange and yellow she has shorter hair due to areas she had to have her hair cut -so you can see the heat of her skin. Then you can also see her paw marks as they heated up the floor when she walked. The other thermal image photo is of my kitty. We had a pipe burst, so the drywall was cut out in that area. I took the camera in there, and the pipes were purple or dark, blue. I went into the bathroom on the other side of the wall and turned on the hot water for a few minutes. Went back into the other room, aimed the camera to the wall with pipes and they all turned bright bright yellow. We also have some flooring that was removed down to the subfloor. The floor was more of a dark blue, and the cracks between the floor, which were open to the crawlspace area, which was warmer since the cracks turned more of a pink color. You can see the temperature points in the photos. This has a great little case so you can keep the camera with you. I will use this camera for pipes, heat leaks, as night vision to locate wild animals on our property. I am sure I can find many more uses for this camera. As I mentioned there are multiple other options in the app that I have not yet explored. I have a Flir Thermal Imaging monocular, which works okay, but theFOXWELL RT100 Thermal Camera has much more functionality and it is easier to use, you can immediately share photos and video, edit it on your phone and many other things. I highly recommend this thermal camera.

the resolution seems really good, this unit had much high IR resolution than others, some were 90x90 IR which seems low. it worked quickly with the software, no issues getting it to work.this is not compatible with cases of any type, the unit is designed to fit flush to the bottom of your device. I bought a usb-c extender that is about 3/8" long which allows me to use this with a case.I've only played around with it so far and I think the colors are relative to surrounding temp and I'd like them to be absolute so when I look at a 30C source, its the same color even if the surrounding is 0C or 50C. I'm have to play with that.I have not used it with a pc yet but I plan on it, I didn't even realize it was PC compatible when I bought it. nice bouns

Ordered this thermal imager to locate live voltage lines in a wall I was working on. This imager is easy to use and can be connected directly to your phone (type C) or use the provided cable for more flexibility. This imager boots quickly and is easy to read. I like the carrying case and lightweight design. I carry this imager in my repair kit to identify issues within the wall when I am doing work.Overall, a great thermal imager.

I work as a boiler and compressor operator and IR imaging equipment are indispensable tools for the job! Such as detecting hot spots on our industrial boilers or detecting refrigerant leaks from 20 feet away. Though we use much more expensive gear at my places of work, this camera stands to be just as good, if not better, than some of them. Better yet, it operates with your phone, so you can easily take and save pictures/videos directly, as well as having a touch face interface. The only thing I am truly worried about it is that it does sit pretty loose in my phone's USB port. I do plan on getting a cheap tablet for this and only this.As far as battery life goes, I haven't noticed much extra drainage at all with this. I suppose if I were to sit it in front of a suspected area on one of the compressors to watch and record rises in temperatures on the bearings, I can see how this would drain a battery. Normally, in my occupation, you would just scan and inspect, which is never more than 30 minutes. I also compare the data I get from this with our $1000 cameras and the temperature readings are practically the same. Some key features I would love to see added to this would be selecting an area on the screen for the app to monitor and create a trend. Something I always would have liked to see included in our thermal gear, as data collecting and setting up on a graph manually can be time consuming.Anyways, I love that I have my own personal thermal camera now because I have always wanted one for home too. I use it for finding house drafts, my boilers (yes, I have two at home ironically), radiator heating, computers, consoles, and my older appliances.Thank you for reading my review! 🙏

This is a USB thermal camera. You have to install Foxwell’s app to use the camera, but it installed fine and recognized the camera instantly on my Pixel 8. The app obviously requires permissions for the camera and microphone because it records thermal videos but also wants notification permissions. It doesn’t require storage or photo/video permissions. There are not much instructions with the camera nor in the app, but it’s not too difficult to figure out.I own other thermal cameras and the image quality is comparable to more expensive ones. There are lots of options to change the colours, temperature ranges, etc. and even use it as a temperature monitor with logging. See my photos where I aim it at an exterior door and you can see where I need to improve my weatherstripping since you can see where the cold is entering. In addition to showing the temperature of the spot in the middle of the screen, it shows the temps and locations of the hottest and coldest spots. To get readings on a specific part of the screen, you can draw a rectangle, line or individual spots. See one of my photos where I drew a rectangle to get the readings within that rectangle. The only place where it lacks slightly is where it tries to overlay a “normal” image over the thermal one. It’s called “fusion mode”, and it uses your phone’s camera in addition to the thermal camera. However, since those two cameras are far away from each other, the angles will look different so it’s not possible to superimpose the two images together. Instead, the normal image is put in the upper left corner of the thermal image (see my photo). This is not as satisfactory as more expensive cameras that have their own normal imaging sensor close to the thermal sensor and can truly overlay the images. The photos and videos can only be viewed from within the app, but you can “share” them to Google Photos so that they will be included with your normal photos and then viewable in your phone’s gallery app.
