1. Install the USB driver software. You can update or download this driver anytime from internet;
2. Plug the USB cable to your PC, the yellow 'POWER' LED will illuminate;
3. Slide-switch to select operating mode, and connect the test cable and HART device according to the following pictures:

* 24VDC/270Ω Mode:
The red “24VDC” LED will illuminate. This mode can power all 2-wire HART device, internal loop resistor is available. Does not need external power and loop resistor.

* Normal Mode:
The red '24VDC' LED will not illuminate. This mode is very typical for HART MODEM, need external power and loop resistor 250Ω~1000Ω.

* 270Ω Mode:
1. The red '24VDC' LED will not illuminate. This mode need external power, does not need loop resistor;
2. Run the HART application software to configure your HART device. The red and blue bi-color “Tx/Rx” LED will blink alternately when the communication is good between PC and HART device( Tx-RED, Rx-Blue).
3. If you finish your operating, Please close your HART software, then pull out the USB cable and disconnect the test cable.

The provided so acts are is housed on a 3.5 floppy and I was just fortunate enough to have one available. I cannot provide an update on its functionality due to not having a HART Device available. Soon as I can confirm operation I will follow up this review.

Works great and extremely easy set up. No issues with drivers, just download PactWare and the proper DTM for your device and it connects right away. Powered up a few transmitters right from my USB port, no issues there either.

Great modem that can power transmitters off the USB port too!Interfaces with Rosemount AMS Device Configurator.The CD comes with the drivers compressed in .rar file type rather than .zip so you may need to download an app to extract the files. There are many free ones available though, and once the driver files are decompressed they install like normal.It also comes with some nice HART utilities.One thing I have found that is very helpful if you connect to the modem with older software;In windows open "Device manager" , go to the Ports. There you can right click on "USB Serial Port" which is this device, and go to Properties. Set the bits per second to 1200. (You only need to do that once)The modem will now interface with older software that can't automatically adjust, as well as newer software that can!!

I disliked the downloading of the device driver for the unit. It took a lot of looking to find and get it installed.Once the device driver was installed, the unit worked just fine. The 24VDC power to the device being programmed was very convenient.

Plugged into my 10pro laptop - OS saw the modem chip set no problem. Downloaded PACKware from Krohne installed no problem. Connected to a Rosemont 248R with the generic DTM no problem. Downloaded the Rosemont DTM from the emerson site - and configured changes...... Only trick is trying to figure out the device tree at first - but got that working after a couple of tries.

Included software is just a bunch of freeware programs that can be downloaded from the various manufacturers. I work mostly on Rosemount stuff, and none of the included programs allow me to calibrate them unless I purchase an expensive license. This modem also draws a bit of current from the 4-20mA loop, so when I connect to a transmitter that's in service the loop current jumps by about 2.7mA, no matter what setting the switch is on. Tech support and instructions are basically non existent, and good luck getting a refund if it doesn't work for you and your application. I was able to get it mostly working using a paid android app called AndroHART, but it only allows a few basic things. For instance, you can zero a transmitter but not calibrate the URV. This app also doesn't do any sort of live view, so you have to poll the transmitter constantly to see updated values. This HART modem does sort of work for some situations though, but not as advertised with the software that is included.
