This item works well and is large enough to see your dog on a dark night and several hundred feet away. More importantly the light is of sufficient strength that a car driver will or should be able to see your dog. In the snow the light color gives a very seasonal effect as your dog plays in the snow.

Great little lights, easy to use and operate. I have taken two diving to 60 feet, no leaks, fairly visible during the day, but really designed for night diving. I think the key to not having leaks is to turn it on the mode you want at the surface then jump in and don't mess with it until you come back out. Because you have to unscrew the bottom to change the modes there is a chance water could leak in if you go too far. I didn't have an issue but didn't play with settings at 60 feet. I have also used it when night hiking, battery life is good and they are bright for the size, not super bright but enough for what they are used for. If camping you could use the white one as a bright candle option in your campsite and it is plenty bright to light up a tent. Probably not a go out and chop wood light but for other basic uses, a great backpack light option.

Small, but solid item, ideal for low light or night dives. Certainly not a primary light, but an excellent emergency beacon, with a selectable 100%, 25% or strobe options.

I bought this for use as a night dive marker beacon. On the first dive I used this I was trying out the modes (25%, 100%, flash) at about 50 feet depth, I quickly found only one mode was working - 100% - and so I gave up and attached to a buoy line. It was very bright and served its marker purpose well. After the 70 min dive we returned to the marker, collected it and I noticed I couldn't switch modes so I turned it off and we surfaced. Later I found salt water had got in so I flushed the compartment with fresh water, put it into a sealed box with rice and after 2 days it is working again. The rubber gasket on the battery cap, which also serves as the on/off/mode switch, is very close to the edge: there is no room for error if over-twisting or twisting the wrong direction.Note that I just checked Glo-toob website and it says "For the new AAA, we recommend choosing your mode before submerging" which is obviously an acknowledgement of this type of issue can occur. I want to choose my mode underwater though so I will try some more and update this review if I get it to stay dry.

My friend is a sea diver and uses these for his dives. After seeing him use them in rough ocean use, I decided to grab one myself to replace my glowsticks that I use to be seen. I usually always carry some form of light to mark my location and be seen by friends. From hiking in the dark, climbing at night, cycling or marking the tree that I have climbed up to set up my hunting perch...you can always find a glowstick or LED fingerlight that I have left behind for people to spot. The problem was waste, these glowsticks need to be recycled or thrown away...the LED lights use lithium button batteries...Enter the Glo-Toob.Powered by a single, easy to find, easy to replace AAA battery with an amazing 15 hour battery life. It's bright, durable, water proof and shock proof. What more can you want from a rugged marker light? I attach this to my backpack when I cycle at night and I can be seen from long distances, I use it when I snowboard at night with the lanyard around my neck, I tie it to my tree when I am hunting, I attach it to my dog's collar when we go on night walks and I even used it at Burning Man to be seen in complete darkness.

Very bright on high and VERY sufficient light on low for most tasks. Easily packable and easy to carry spare batteries. Should be useful for camping, bug out bags, gear bags for emergency teams, etc.... as either a marker light or serving as a light source. Run times are right on the money as long as you use name brand cells. Cheap batteries will run down in less than the stated hours. Three mode switching is easy compared to past models. I have the green, red, and white and all perform quite well. VERY pleased with all three. The only thing that I'd like to see changed would be to replacxe the strobe mode with a slower flash. The strobe is quite effective at drawing attention, but a simple double flash with a brief pase would do the same and provide more of a beacon use. Very subjective thought of course....

After watching Glo-Toob evolve their design over the last few years, I had always hoped they would come out with a 'Toob that didn't require a specialized battery. Sure enough, they must be listening, as the AAA-powered Glo-Toob has now arrived on the market. It doesn't have a million modes like the other 'Toobs; in fact, only three: 100% steady, 25% steady, and strobe. (FYI: The 25% mode uses PWM.) You turn the light on/off by rotating the battery compartment cap, and do the same thing to change between modes. While this size of Glo-Toob won't function very well as a lantern or flashlight, it excels at what it was designed for -- a marker light or beacon. Included in the box is an alkaline battery, a small split ring, and a neck lanyard with breakaway. The green LEDs are very vibrant and definitely catch your eye (and likely those of passing motorists, too); works great clipped to a dog collar as well. What's not to like? Simpler, cheaper, and easier to find batteries.
