ILD / Compression Rating Explanation

This product has a compression rating of 44 lbs.

Compression means the number of pounds necessary to compress the piece of foam by 1 inch in a 7x7 inch area.

For example, if you put 44 lbs in a 7x7 inch area, the foam will compress 1 inch.

Density Explanation

Many mistakenly take high density foams as firmer foams but that is not the case. A foam that is 44 ILD in a medium and high density will feel the same.

Density is the lifespan of the foam, the higher the density the more material is used to make the foam hence making it last longer.

****Disclaimers****

Many advertise their 1.8 density foam as high density which is false advertisement. When looking at foam products you should look at the ILD / Compression Rating ( Firmness and Softness ) of the foam and Density ( Lifespan / Durability ) of the foam.

Sunlight will turn this unit from white to yellow, if you do not want a color change on your unit we suggest keeping it away from direct sunlight.

I purchased the 4” foam mattress for my DIY ambulance RV conversion. It greatly exceeded my expectations!It was easy to cut with a serrated kitchen knife & sleeps like a DREAM for this side sleeper who prefers mattresses on the firmer side (but still has some give)- just as comfortable as at home; maybe more! This is a winner! I’ll stick with this mattress for future builds.

This is exactly what I was looking for to put under sagging couch cushions which sat too low making it hard for an elder like me to get up from. I ordered the 4” but 2” would have been a better choice as it is quite high now but works well anyway. That of course was my error in calculation. I believe it will hold up well because of the density. Time will tell.

I already had one that was older and flattening. This one is very sturdy but its smaller than the cot in width and length. I ended up putting it under the older one. A Twin fitted covers them both perfectly and what I love about this is on top of being sturdy it does not slip like the other one. Stays in place really well. Would buy again.

Went with the FIRM foam as was recommended by my upholsterer and glad we did. Seemed very firm at first as we were used to soft, flimsy trailer foam but soon came to appreciate the support this offers. Was easy to cut into the shape of my trailer cushions with a kitchen bred knife. Very happy! It comes tightly rolled in a smallish box.
