I love these mats. I got this on Vine, but I've since ordered 2 more because the price point is so good. My cat and I stay in a few different places throughout the week, so she has setups at all of them. These mats are so handy. I love that you just squeeze them a little and dump the litter right back into the box or trash. They're made of durable, quality material that looks like will hold up for a long time, that was another factor to buying more of these exact ones. My cat doesn't have any issues stepping on it, like she did the last one I bought and had to throw away. That is a very good selling point for me, because I cannot stand to step on litter pieces or have it tracked around my house. It grosses me out, completely. It's a lightweight mat and is the perfect size to span the whole front of her box. It's super easy to clean too, just spray it with the hose and let it dry in the sun.

This is such a simple but SMART idea it begs the question why pet stores haven’t been selling them for decades on end!Straight out of the box, it was folded in half both directions to ship more compactly, so I moved the biggest litter box we have, swept all around thoroughly, and put the mat down then used the box and some gallon and liter sized bottles of water on top of it (making sure the edges were all flat down with nothing under them to warp the mat) for a couple days so it would be flat against the floor once in front of the box. That did the trick, and I tested it with clean litter to refresh what was scooped out of an otherwise clean box, and it is quite easy, even as I have arthritis and shoulder injuries that limit my lifting and range of motion capacity. Lifting the sides, the heftier bottom layer just falls in the center taking with it the litter without much of any effort. The top can, of course, have a little litter land on the waffling, but it has not, even when not falling through a hole, left the actual mat yet and most all of the bits of litter on the top were shaken down when she ran back to the box, anyway. It is so functional and simple I am wondering why I didn’t myself hack together something all these decades to stop having hard bits of litter impale my feet. Other kinds of mats have been plentiful, but none has been this brilliant and effective. Bonus=I can keep my vacuum from dealing with so many of these loud frustrating bits of litter now that I can just pour them back into the box or, if they are spent, into the disposal bag.Unlike other mats that just have grooves in them, this is fully separate layers, the top layer a waffle sort of pattern that has some give to be soft under paws. It can be left for a pretty long period (unless you have a mass flinger sort of kitty) to gather quite a bit of litter particles before it would need to be emptied, so to a large extent, it is set it and forget it for me. I have daily opportunities to check and see how much my pawesome pal is taking out with her as she flies out of the box, and the biggest benefit of this is that the two separate layers keep the top from letting litter come back out which the normal grooved sorts of litter mats just don’t really succeed in doing as frequent a visitor as my cat is to her throne. The size was as described, and thankfully there is no odor to it, something I am especially sensitive to which makes rubber mats a no-go for me if they are natural or partly natural… for some of us, no doubt cats included, our sensitive noses and/or tendency to have headaches triggered from smells makes some kinds of synthetic materials better, at least for goods that we will be using for very long times which I hope is the case with this. It should be unless she decides it is going to double as a scratching surface (all bets off no matter how rugged something is if her claws take to it given how fast they grow back and how very diligent she is about sharpening them). It is, though, made from tough enough materials that it should be okay. I will just be sure her other things smell like catnip and draw her little curved daggers to them.I can’t recommend this enough. Just know you’ll need a couple days to let it get the creases out so the edges don’t flip up and turn it into a toy. Should she get too interested in what’s under there, I will add some hefty metal balls too heavy to be toys that can sit on the waffle pattern or some other weight to the edges, but for now, she is neither amused nor frustrated with it: purrfect reaction.

As a fairly new cat owner who hates litter boxes and cat litter, I have tried everything under the sun to make my cats litter box closet as functional and non-messy as possible. I have gone through countless types of Mathot, litter, collectors, and rugs to keep his litter inside this room. I have found that these cat litter mats are actually good, but most of them are way too small. What I really liked about this black cat litter Matt is the fact that it is much larger than most.In my cats, litter box room, I have two litter collecting mats and a couple squares of tall, fake grass for him to wipe his paws as well. The problem I have come across with the mass is that typically have a thick outer rim of foam material and my particular cat likes to eat and destroy it Makes these mats not last me long at all. With this particular Matt, he has not destroyed it yet, and I believe that is due to the quality of the stitching and the fact that there is not much excess foam outside of the stitched rim. I find these types of litter mats Very important and I’m glad to have found this one. My only complaint is that when it did come in the box it was folded into four squares, and it did take about two days to get all the creases out and finally lay flat. Once it did lay flat, it is totally fine, but to be a note is that it did take several days to get in that usable condition. other than that, I like this Matt And it comes in a variety of sizes and if my particular litter box area were bigger. I would have absolutely gotten the larger one. It definitely helps cut down on the litter mess being spread throughout my house. It’s a good product and a good design.

Updated: The mat has now had several days and has flattened out much more and my cats will now walk on it. The last time I checked it some little did pour out of it, so it seems to be working.Original Review: I like the idea of this mat and it seems like it ought to work to catch litter and let you either toss away or back in the litterbox. It's large unlike so many litter mats that are too tiny. It's wide enough to cover the floor in front of two large boxes. The problem is it arrived folded in quarters and now refuses to lie flat. I left it out in the sun for a bit (but not too long since it feels like one of the foam type plastics that can shrink if overheated) hoping that would flatten it out. It didn't. As is, my cats don't currently want to walk on it, which is a problem. They put a paw on and bounce back so fast I can't even get a picture of them on it. I'm hoping it will flatten out sometime, but its had all day, plus an hour in the sun and it's still wanting to fold back up. Hopefully, this will get better because I really like the idea and if it works, it would be a godsend.
