This leak sensor was super easy to set up in Z2M and get into Home Assistant. I like that it has sensors both on the bottom and on top of the device. I also like that it makes a noise when triggered. I have noticed that the Zigbee connectivity has been hit or miss with it in my case though. This is not ideal as a leak sensor needs to be able to notify at all times. I will keep an eye on the connectivity to see if that improves over time.

This is a nice leak detector module. I use another manufacturer's detectors in six spots in my home, but they tend to drop off my Home Assistant Zigbee network often and have to be re-paired. That's not optimal for such a critical function.This Tuya-compatible unit paired with my Home Assistant ZHA integration with a 3-second push of the top button. The button appropriately requires a fair amount of push, so don't be shy about pushing down. After a long press the red light will flash until you pair it with your platform.In my tests, the detection is super responsive. It senses and sends a wet condition immediately. Also, as soon as the wet condition clears (no continuous water from one electrode to the other), it clears immediately too. This module is unique in that it has two electrodes in a circular depression on top of the unit too, which makes it an excellent drip detector - think of putting it under the P-trap of your sink - it will pick up that leak before it puddles on your floor, making a mess. Very clever!The only thing I miss from my other detectors is that they have Allen screw connectors to the electrodes which make s it possible to extend wires away from the module, like for monitoring liquid levels in containers (like a dog water bowl).All in all, a great addition to your home automation system!

This HAOZEE zigbee water leak sensor is a well built small smart device. The package comes with a little plastic piece that is a tool to unscrew the battery compartment cap. The sensor has contacts for water leak detection on the bottom as well as on the top. So it should be able to detect flooding and also overhead leaks.Since it does not have a built in alarm, you will have to rely on automations or notifications from your smart home system to alert you. The zigbee signal strength of this device is also reliable. I was able to pair it with my hubitat hub with only moderate difficulty. At first the device was found and it got stuck in initialize phase. However on my second attempt, it was paired successfully.I did have to install custom device driver in Hubitat using the Hubitat Package Manager. The one I used is 'Tuya NEO coolcam zigbee water leak sensor' I tested it out by putting the device in shallow tray of water and it alerted me that it was wet. I dried it up and then tested the contacts on the top by spilling water on the sensor and it again changed from dry to wet.I have had poor luck with another brand's zigbee devices constantly dropping off the mesh network in the past. Which was probably due to their non-standard zigbee implementation. For now the HAOZEE water leak sensor is performing well and I will continue to monitor it for how reliable its zigbee 3.0 is at staying connected.But based on my short experience of about a month using this device, I would say at under fifteen bucks this is a great deal and would highly recommend it.

I have had some minor leaking with my AC unit, which I normally find out when I see moisture in the leaking tray when changing the filter. While there is never a real problem, a small amount of water could mean a minor issue, which can be easily fixed when I am aware that it is going on.This Zigbee water leak sensor is hopefully the resolution to my issues.This is a small device with a button/feedback light on top (press firmly on the logo), 2 metal surfaces on the top and 2 on the bottom. The bottom ones are slightly recessed so it does not made direct contact with the surface. If the two surfaces are shorted (put holding a wire or paperclip across them for testing), the button glows red to denote it detected water. No sound is produced.I never bothered with Tuya, just hooked it up directly to Home Assistant over Zigbee. In HA, go to the Zegbee integration to add a new device. Press the button 3 seconds and it shows up, ready for configuration.The integration shows 3 sensors:- Identify: Pressing this does not work for me, but the name tells me all I need to identify the device.- Battery Level: This comes with the battery included.- Moisture: The star of the show. Putting this thing on a we surface, or just wetting your finger while touching the contacts, changes the state.This is everything I need to take any actions needed when moisture is detected. And for the price, I think it is a pretty cheap early-warning-system.Recommended!

using it as a mailbox detector by wiring it to a reed switch and changing the function in home assistant to door contact. the sensor is attached to the outside of my mailbox so it can talk to the zigbee router about 40ft away. works great for my unique use case. easy to set up with z2m

This water detector works just fine, I shorted the terminals on the top and on the bottom and verified that it reported water detected both times. I'm using ZHA in Home Assistant, and had no issues with pairing, though it took me a while to realize that the pairing button is on the top, and I just needed to push the center in hard.$16 isn't a bad price for Amazon, but it's still very overpriced compared to other online retailers where you can order directly from China (though shipping will probably take a couple weeks). Just something to keep in mind.
