We had to deal with many racoons and a few possums eating our chickens. Live trapping wasn't a good long term option, so I escalated to the next level in the arms war. I've successfully killed about 25 raccoons & possums in the last month. I don't really want them to suffer, so I needed sufficient power & accuracy for a single shot to do the job. This air rifle works well for that purpose. I'm impressed at the consistent accuracy, so it would probably be good for target sports. (I haven't figured out how to casually shoot with one hand in my back pocket yet.)

Hatsan model 95 Vortex (22 cal) - Right off the bat, the scope and rings are junk but I didn’t expect much at this price point. This is my first break-barrel pellet gun. In the past I have owned a Benjamin pump in 22 cal and it was a real workhorse. So far, this gun seems to have sufficient power and accuracy. I replaced the scope with a UTG Leapers Bug Buster and have been very impressed with this optic. I suspect that the 11mm dovetail is not 100% true and parallel with the barrel as I have had to tighten and readjust the scope mount several times. When sighted, it has proven quite accurate with Crossman Premier domed pellets. Quality and workmanship is decent besides the issues mentioned previously. Hopefully, the gun will last a number of years.

This is my first pellet rifle and I am very pleased so far. For starters it looks the part. Nice dark wood stock. All fasteners tight. Very solid feeling. I've had the chance to also try out an RWS 54, and in comparison I would say this is solid but not heavy (the RWS is definitely heavy). I've fired about 50 shots through it so far using the open sights (only mounted the scope for one picture). At about 10 yards with open sights this rifle packs a punch (see the coffee can entry and exit holes) but seems to group ok in my novice hands using a very light hold. Cocking effort is firm but not hard. I would have no trouble firing this rifle for hours at a time. I don't think the recoil or vibration is to bad, although I don't have a good point of comparison. Noise is definitely tolerable. I shot in my basement and my better half could barely hear me in the house. Like others have mentioned about the same volume as a pneumatic hammer. I can't speak to the scope as I have not shot with it yet. I'll try to leave another review after I've put more pellets through it and taken it to the range. But so far I'm pleased with my choice for an entry level pellet rifle this thing really performs. I'm going to go through and loctite all the hardware and give it routine maintenance. But expect it will hold up well.

What a great gun!I read a few reviews before I bought this one, and if there is one thing I've learned about air gun owners is that they are remarkably picky, and no one seems to agree on anything!First off, this gun seems very well made. Certainly a bargain for the price. Good solid wood, well made and quality metal. I had to buy the .177 because in the city limits they consider anything above 0.18 a 'firearm' even if it isn't.The first few shots were a little off, but with some adjustment of the scope it fires very accurately with decent grouping. I've yet to play with the adjustable trigger. In fact really this is going to be a standby weapon for pest removal. We've had a pretty serious rabbit problem, and I don't foresee this having any trouble at all at that task.As others have noted the scope is garbage, but I'm okay with that. It works. And I'd rather the bulk of my investment go in the gun itself. I can always buy a better scope when I want to.I got the Quiet Edition and the gas vortex version. Cocking is fairly heavy, but no more than what I expected. And it's certainly quiet enough that if I have to take care of a rabbit, my neighbors will be none the wiser. I don't think there would be any 911 calls, "shots fired." I didn't use the regular sights much, but they look great.I'm sure that 'experts' could argue all day about alternative guns in this segment, as it seems there are a lot of choices around this price. But I have to say, a choice of spring or gas, quiet or not, and three calibers, all in this nicely made solid feeling gun, seems pretty awesome to me.With the addition of a nice scope, this seems to me like an excellent value for money. Time will tell how long it lasts, but at this price point, I'm happy to buy something else in a few years if this turns out to be a dud. So far though, very happy.

A real sturdy cannon with heavy recoil. To shoot the squirrel in your neighbor's yard aim the sights, at the squirrel directly below in your yard.
