One hears how most salt bowls arrive damaged so I opened my package with trepidation. The bowls was intact so I set it up and opened the plastic which was wrapped round the plug. The prongs had snapped clean off in transit having been ‘protected’ with flimsy plastic. On Monday I’m calling my electrician to see if he can replace the plug since I don’t want to lose an otherwise perfect bowl. An expensive purchase in the end.

We have 7 salt lamps in our home at the moment. They are claimed to provide health benefits, including the emission of negative ions that cleanse and purify the air, so we are hoping in a small way to fight the Corona Virus and other unwanted guests. Two of our lamps are the hand carved bowl type having arrived just today.Shipping was very quick, and the lamps were very well packed and protected. Each bowl was almost perfect with only 1 very small chip (less than 7 mm.) on the edge. No problem, after all they are made of natural salt and it is easy to turn the bowl away from the viewer...More than enough salt chunks to fill the bowl to the point of overflowing.Nice mix of pink and white salt pieces, and a dimmer switch to adjust the 25 watt bulb from dim to quite bright.Easily a 9.5 rating, we are extremely pleased and will be ordering a few more in a coming days.

First of all, the lamp arrived within 6 days of ordering it and when opened there was no damage noticed so congrats to both Amazon and Canada Post! We have two other salt lamps which we are fond of but this is really quite novel and stunning and we took to it almost immediately. It came with ample "stones" to fill the bowl to overflowing as shown in the picture. The orange bowl had subtle diagonal stripes and the stones had varying degrees of colour, some quite orange and some fairly white which provided a nice contrast whether the bowl was lit or not. When we plugged it in, the bulb worked so all was terrific so far!! However, the best was left to last as when viewed in a fairly dark room, it bordered on perfection as it was so aesthetically pleasing!! It resembled a fireplace with glowing embers and the stripes that are somewhat evident in daylight impart yet another dimension to this piece as they become much more visible. We have had a problem with ordering salt lamps before but definitely not with this purchase!! In fact, as soon as I finish typing this "glowing" report, I am going back and ordering another one (and hope our good luck and faith are rewarded once again). The only criticism I have with this lamp is that I prefer the dimmer switch to be closer to the lamp and not in the middle of the power cord. Totally satisfied thus far!!!EDIT # 1 -- We just received our second one a mere two days after ordering -- fantastic!! HOWEVER, UNLIKE the first one received, this one arrived with a chip missing on the lip of the bowl and upon searching the packing, no chip could be found leaving one to suspect that it left the manufacturer's in a damaged state. Also, a couple of the "stones" were merely blobs of salt crystals that fell apart as soon as they were touched. We did not try the bulb to see if it works as it arrived ice-cold and would need a substantial warm-up period before that could happen. We are quite disappointed in the inconsistency of this company and hopefully they will respond to this problem. We still love the shape and the concept but right now we are only batting 50%; however, we are reluctant AT THIS TIME to change our rating due to the quality of the first one we received. We anticipate the company's prompt reply and solution.EDIT # 2 -- Absolutely love dealing with Amazon -- ZERO problems returning and getting a replacement for the above item! Further, the replacement arrived within a couple of days after notifying them of the problem!! This one was not perfect as the first one we kept but was a vast improvement over the second one shipped to us. There was no damage to the bowl although there was a seam in the salt that we thought at first was a crack so will keep an eye on it. We so like the bowl as it has swirls of darker salt within it and that comes quite close to the first one, albeit somewhat lighter in colour. Having two "matching" lamps is important as we plan on putting one bowl on each of the end cabinets beside the bed in the MBR. The stones were of a much better quality, shape, and colour as well. However, when plugged in, the lamp did not work and we determined the cause to be the wiring and not the bulb so we traded the non-functioning lamp with the one that came with the bowl we are sending back as it worked just fine. Despite the light problem and seam in the bowl, we will be keeping this one and see no reason to change my 5 star rating based on the item but equally so on the superb service and prompt attention to the problem. Well done, Amazon!!!!

Couldn't be any more happier with my purchase of my Himalayan pink salt lamp!! The lamp base is made of solid salt as well. Arrived carefully packaged and before expected delivery date. Looks absolutely stunning in my living room! Love that it has a dimmer feature. I have a couple of these lamps throughout my home in various sizes and shapes, highly recommend to anyone :)

I'll give it props for looking pretty....it's larger than one might expect, certainly more than what we expected! The item was purchased as a mothers day gift. We set it up quickly as everything arrived in working order...even the bulb. However, after less than 2 hrs. the bulb blew out. We replaced the bulb ( I had exrtras on hand just in case) and sadly, they didn't work. I took the light assembly apart and discovered that it had completely corroded. Guess that's to be expected, since it's salt, but seriously, it must have been sitting in a warehouse for years. I replaced the entire assembly, but certainly won't be buying anything more from this group or product area.

This lamp is beautiful. Let me start by saying that this isn't a lamp for throwing out light, it's not for that. It's designed to give a molten glow through the salt crystals from the 15w bulb supplied. The salt crystals are ionizing crystals that have been used for centuries for air purifying purposes. It may benefit those with allergies or asthma.I've added a picture of ours to show how well it glows in a dark room. See the image gallery above.UNPACKINGIt comes in a weighty box with the salt crystals in a separate bag inside the box, sitting in the bowl. Remove the bag of crystals and take off the cardboard light bulb protector. It might be damp from the crystals. Check the light bulb (provided) to see if it still works by plugging in the unit. The bowl is a pink rose color and has a waxy appearance and looks kind of ordinary with a few small chips missing from it. It is supposed to look this way. It has a cord attached, over 6 feet with a control dial on the cord to adjust the brightness of the bulb.SETTING UPFind a place you want to put it and place it on something, like a coaster. Avoid putting it directly on a wood surface as moisture within the crystal bowl could damage it. Once you find a spot, unpack the crystals from the bag. They're various sizes ranging from squash ball size to much smaller pieces.Start stacking them up in the bowl without any of them touching the actual bulb inside. This can be quite difficult at first until you get a few pieces started, as they tend to slide down into the bulb. If they touch the bulb then the bulb is in danger of blowing. Keep some air between the crystals and the bulb. Stacking them becomes easier after you make a nice base around the bulb. There should be enough crystals to stack up and cover the bulb like in the picture.Once they're arranged how you want them, plug it in and turn up the dial on the cord to activate the light. It starts very dim but adjusts to very bright and gives the salt crystals a beautiful orange glow. Like I said earlier, this isn't for lighting up a room. You can barely see the base it's sitting on in a dark room, the orange glow is all you can see. It looks like hot coals in a fire and is very intriguing to look at!The warmer it gets, the more it ionizes the air, but it will never get too warm from a 15w bulb. Some people say they can replace them with 25w. This may be so, and it may have more benefit and heat up the crystals more. I'll stick with the 15w until it blows, which I hope won't be for awhile. We have had ours over a month now and the bulb is going strong and it's constantly on, with varying degrees of illumination. I work nights. This is in the bedroom and if it's turned on full I can't sleep, the glow it far too bright for me, so I dim it for sleeping. I love this lamp as it's something very different and you may get a few "Wow!" comments. Just don't bump it or you'll be picking up salt crystals forever! Yes, they chip as well so they can make added mess. I give this lamp 5 stars.

OMG...I don't even know why I wanted this, but I saw it and just did. The pictures of it lit up in the dark were just so fascinating. And honestly, from a mental wonder perspective, this the best thing I've done for myself in a long time. Better than any trip to the spa or an awesome slice of cheesecake (and it lasts!)It's natural salt and beautiful. Pictures just can't capture it. Unlit and in daylight...it's the pretty pink you usually see in Himalayan salt. Lit up it is like frozen fire. Captures all that fun and wonder of being around a campfire as a kid and just makes me feel warm. Looks magical...can just gaze at it. Rocks just rest around the bulb...move them around however you want like your own little salt bowl shaped zen garden.I love that it's got a dimmer switch on it too. I can actually read by it on it's brightest setting and turn it down to just the barest red glow to sleep by. Reading the instructions, these are meant to be capable of being on nearly constantly and indeed it does get warm when on full but with a 25 watt bulb it never gets so hot I am worried about it or am concerned I'll burn myself when I touch it.Bulbs are easy to find...they're standard 25 watts. No idea how long they last int he lamp but they look easy to replace and the one that came in it looks fine. Filtered by the salt it's pinkish orange down to a deep red when you dim it on down. You'd think it'd be ominous, but it's not at all. It's got all the friendliness of a cuddly campfire or something very like. I can't help but think desert resort and underwater paradise/Atlantis at the same time...I honestly don't know if cleans the air in the room (it's supposed to). I understand the science where heat releases charged sodium ions and all that...I just don't know that it's enough to make a difference, but I can't say it's not either. Getting close it smells like salt...clean salt like a fancy bath (I'd say like the ocean, but well...the ocean has a dead fish and smell and a clammyness...this has a clean dryness to it. Feels and looks like those pictures of Sedona Arizona or Antelope Canyon look - both of which I've visited in person and recommend by the way). So it smells just fine...and if it IS cleaning the air, all the better!I was concerned when it came because the sender put no padding around the box and it was loose in the larger shipping box. But it's INCREDIBLY well packed in it's own box and I had no issues. I see the reviewer that claimed theirs was chipped...to be honest, the edge of mine was too, and it was flaky, but it looked like a natural flaw in the salt as opposed to damage and I quickly went from frowning at it to loving it once I had the lamp lit up for a night. One thing I have noticed...it gets quite humid in my apartment at times (when I do laundry...) and the sharp edges of the "rocks" that go inside the bowl have rounded off and smoothed over like glass does when tossed in the ocean. I haven't seen any sign that the bowl itself is melting or anything so hopefully it doesn't disappear over time. But the wear this far is lovely so hopefully it doesn't!Anyway, I waited because I thought it was a silly thing to lust over, but I finally bought it on a whim with a gift card and wow...I am so happy I did. For reasons I can't even explain, it just makes me happy and feel good...I'd even go so far as to say I feel less tired and less headachy by having it on when I read by it's light before I go to bed. I'm not one for hokey new age stuff...but...it is what it is. For me, it's proving to be a mental health thing. If you're wondering if you should get one to, I'd seriously say, yeah, go for it!
