This slicer works absolutely great. The base is sturdy, the handle is rigid, the wires are thin but I supposed they have to be that way to cut through the canned meat (spam for example). We have used ours a number of times with no problems, no broken wires, you just have to go slow and a little gentle. If you hurry or manhandle the cutter I can see broken wires in your future. Buy, enjoy and take it slow when cutting.

Never knew this product existed. Always cut our SPAM with a knife, regardless of how it turned out!!Saw this on Amazon and bought it. It really works very well and creates even slices.The wires that do the cutting could be a bit heaver duty as they bend somewhat while using. SLOW even pressure is the only way to use this slicer. I'm afraid that if to much pressure is used, the slicer will break as the plastic parts are also a bit flimsy.Cleaning is no problem in warm soapy water. and it stores in a small area.

I have only used this for spam which is what I bought it for. It works well and so far have not had any problems. I have heard people using this for cheese and other sausage style meats, I would not recommend that. This product is made to cut soft canned meat and may not strong enough for heavy cutting.
