I bought this to basically replace a similar pincushion (a pink one) that I spilled cola on and kind of ruined. The new one is smaller, but is still fine for tucking away pins and needles, and I like the vibrant red color. I just leave it out on a shelf even when I'm not actually using it just because I like the vibrant red color. The smaller pin cushion has 8 "kids" and the larger one I ruined (and made by the same company) had 10 kids. Since I don't stick pins in the "children" it doesn't hurt the usability of the item. The small red one has an embroidered floral motif in gold decorating the cushion part. The large ones have plain cushions. They would make great add-on/stocking stuffer/office gift for anyone who sews or does other types of needlework.

This pin cushion is a continuation of souvenir items found in many shops post WWII. Sturdy and colorful, the traditional children holding hands invites feelings of joy. The padding is quite stiff at first, but loosens over time. Needlework artists will enjoy using the pin cushion. Small enough to be included luggage for the traveling seamstress.

I really like this item, but it is not good for a pin cushion which is its purpose as marketed. It will end up serving more as a decoration in my sewing room. It is very hard, no where on it to stick a needle, no cushioning whatsoever, and the fabric it is made from would be destroyed pretty rapidly by removing ad replacing pins frequently, so I will simply put in some vintage pins I found in an antique store and use it to decorate my sewing room.
