1.PatternName:101d0 5pc 180mm/180 Grit

  • 150 grit files are 4" / 100mm long
  • 1.5" PVC handles have excellent grip even when exposed to moisture and fluids
  • 1.5" diamond coated surface
  • Includes: equaling, half-round, square, crossing, crochet, knife, and two styles of triangle and round files
  • Includes a vinyl pouch for easy storage

Diamond-coated files cut faster and leave a smoother finish than ordinary steel files. The diamond files from Hobby Tool Supply work on wood, plastic, ceramics, metal, glass and just about anything else. And, because the abrasive is made of genuine industrial diamonds brazed to nickel-plated steel handles, they last far longer than ordinary steel files. All files are diamond-coated on all sides. The handles are coated in red PVC for improved grip.

This is a great set of files. I use them to finish my dogs nails. The handles are a bit skinny, so gripping may be hard for larger hands.

They work super well! Just don’t use them to try to file your teeth, leave that to your dentist

These files were a good deal. Price was right for something that will only be used occasionally. Would purchase again if needed.

This set is a must have. Works best on hard materials. Was able to restore a pair of heat-treated flush cutters quickly & easily with this set.Tip for the ladies: the 150 grit file in this set makes an outstanding nail file. Much faster than emery boards. And it doesn't wear out.

The files work as they should, they're cheap diamond files though, so fit and finish is noticeably imperfect. The distribution of the "grains" on the files is spotty in some places, not a perfectly uniform surface texture. But they work well for the intended purpose of removing small areas of hardened material. Handles aren't perfectly straight. Fine for the price, probably won't last forever.

I occasionally file edges of small metal working projects. Also used to round over spines of some kitchen knives to increase comfort. Inexpensive and Decent value as they finished my projects, but definitely have worn down.

I have been using the 600-grit file almost daily on resin creations, and the others more sparingly. The file is good as new. The set is excellent, and it's saved a lot of sandpaper. I'm surprised! They're as good as the Tamiya diamond file I have, maybe better, and definitely more useful. Also, thankfully I noticed they aren’t marked, so I Sharpied the grit on them before using.

Files received as promised, and work very well. I use them for detail clean-up on wood carvings. The little red handle grips tend to slip.

Nice small diamond files, used on plastic model kits. One grit but nice to have different shapes and price was reasonable. Sturdy, good quality, come in a vinyl pouch. This is a fairly coarse grit to use on plastic but works well to clean up seam lines.

Love these files, they are 12x cheaper than my Citadel tools and they probably work that much better, might be a bit hard to work on resin products with these, they might be more suited to heavier duty filing but they do what i need perfectly.

I used to buy standard needle files quite often, but I have for some years now been a fan of diamond files. I like to have them in different shapes, and now this set gives me flat files in different grits. In conjunction with diamond files, I like to use tungsten carbide rotary tools, but they are fairly costly. So I tried out diamond rotary cutters, which are fairly inexpensive. They do work similar to tungsten carbide, and they last fairly well if you don't overheat them. When shaping metal pieces, smoothing weld joints, or de-burring tools, these small files do not take down thick metal very quickly, but they have a definite value as a follow-up to a bench grinder or other cutters, where the surface needs to be smoothed and perhaps delicately cut. I have also used them very successfully to shave and smooth glass. I even used a diamond file purchased some years ago to cut down a circle of thick glass that was slightly too large for a recess that it needed to fit. That took about 2.5 hours and wore down the diamond file noticeably before I was done, but glass is hard, and the file did the job. That experience moved me to buy similar files, such as these, as a replacement and tool set enhancement. These multiple grades shape and smooth surfaces quite handily. One very useful role for this set in particular is the shaping of blades. When a knife is used heavily or abused, the edge can need basic reshaping to bring its sides together before careful sharpening, and these files are much like using different grades of sharpening stone. A nice difference from using coarse stones is that these files are very compact, it is easy to use them dry, and the different grades in this set can bring the blade edge down to where it is ready to hone on a fine stone. If a knife or other blade, such as an axe, is in terrible shape, it becomes almost an edge creating process. Skillful use of a bench grinder may give the best start to big job, then use of a very coarse stone (I rather like the way a tile edging stone stands up to steel), and then this series of files fits well to bring things into line before fine honing to a shaving edge.Diamond files (and sharpening stones) do wear out; maybe the diamonds themselves remain fairly sound -- I'm not positive, but with much use one eventually sees the metal that sits behind the diamond matrix. However, the price is right, these tools last quite well, and unlike some metal files I have not seen the cutting power deteriorate in minutes. (Of course, some metal files are better made than others.) Anyway, I have come to rely a lot on these diamond files and related tools. They do a good job for a good price. I'm hooked.
