Tested this on the VNA and the rig expert and it was nearly one-to-one SWR in the middle of both the 2 m and 70 CM bands. I couldn't be happier with those results seeing how I've bought five other antennas recently that were nowhere near what they claim to be specification wise. Folds up nice and neat and it comes with a little velcro strap to keep it folded. Highly recommend this one!

Pretty awesome antenna exactly as advertised. Very sturdy and quality. Definitely much better than the smaller ones that come with scanners, et cetera, If this is what you're in the market for, don't hesitate.

Here is my story. Used this HYS antenna indoors on my Pro-668. Def better reception than the cheap rubber duckies. I decided to buy a highly rated $65 Discone antenna. I mounted it up properly on a pole about 20' off the ground. I got HORRIBLE reception. What the heck? After pondering things over night I decided to try something. I took down the Discone and at the top of the PVC pole I taped the HYS where the BNC and coax met. I hoisted the pole up and went inside. To my absolute joy I got a noticeable improvement in reception over Discone antenna and a significant improvement in reception over using the HYS antenna inside. I know this HYS is not a designated outdoor antenna but I am using it as one. I just ordered a 2nd one to use when I am out and out in the car. So far I like it a lot!

Great antenna. Appears well made upon inspection. BNC attaches and detaches solidly. Checked against a Surecom and SWR looks like 1.01 at both 2m and 70 cm.

Works great on several HTs and has a low SWR. Add a ground wire at 1' 6" to match perfect on portable man-packs.

great antenna that you can fold over. I am still testing it but it seems to be working fine within its given frequency range. It has a nice olive drab base with the ribbon part in camoflage.

Buyer beware: this is not nearly as durable as it’s promoted as being, and it appears there is no warranty even though I just bought it.Durability would be zero stars if I could give that rating. This antenna would be great for a desktop scanner perhaps, but nothing used in a handheld or mobile environment. The antenna broke the first time I used it, on an HT that I merely bumped against a door while walking slowly. I have a 20+ year old Radio Shack HTX202 antenna that’s still more durable than this! I was expecting something far more impressive and durable than that ancient RS antenna. The base of this is threaded to the upper part and it comes unscrewed every 30 seconds. I’m not sure what the connection inside is so I didn’t go attempting to secure it with any adhesive. The one positive thing I can say is that the SWR is decent on 2m and 70cm (

BNC fitting for the scanner and the antenna seems to receive as well if not better than other accessory antennae. For the price, worth a punt and so far no complaints. Seems well put together.

I bought the BNC antenna pictured. Construction feels good. SWR readings were taken outside on a grass lawn at head height , holding onto the analyzer (NanoVNA) with one hand as you would a walkie talkie.Listed as Dual Frequency 144/430 MHz with a design SWR below 1.5, the VHF performance doesn't quite meet the published spec. at 144MHz (SWR 2.21) - but it gets close. An SWR of around 2 is nothing to worry about on a hand held. UHF performance looks OK at 1.66. My antenna came with a 'goose neck' and was attached for the test. If you remove the goose neck, and screw the antenna into the base the SWR gets much worse (> 4.5).UHF performance @ 430MHz yields an SWR of 1.66UHF performance @ 446MHz yields an SWR of 1.38VHF performance @ 144MHz yields an SWR of 2.21VHF performance @ 146MHz yields an SWR of 2.02The antenna feels like it could take a beating. The goose neck is not the spring back type. If you bend it, it will retain its shape. The actual antenna element does spring back if bent. This is one of the few antennas I've had from Amazon that works reasonably well on the VHF and UHF bands.
