AZES40 Welcoming yet another expansion to the highly successful AZ series, Ibanez is proud to introduce the new AZES or AZ Essentials line. The philosophy behind this series is to bring the tone, versatility and, playability of this celebrated lineup to a wider array of beginner and intermediate players. However, AZ Essentials are also equipped with series-specific features such as a Mono-unit output jack, a 250mm fingerboard radius, and Comfort round bridge saddles, all designed to make the beginner’s learning process a streamlined, enjoyable and fun experience. ****Product Features**** - Maple neck The Maple neck provides stability and bright tonal character. - Jatoba fretboard Jatoba has a reddish brown color and produces a rich mid range with a crisp high end. - Medium frets Medium sized frets enhance the accuracy of your notes. - Poplar body Poplar used as body wood delivers a well-balanced tone with incredible thickness. - Essentials / Accord S-S-H pickups Essentials and Accord pickups provide well-balanced tone and as well as versatility, so that guitar players can enjoy various styles of music with just one instrument. - Ibanez machineheads w/ Split-shaft They feature die-cast housings and split-shaft. The die-cast housing offers protection from dusts and ease of tuning and the split-shaft makes it easy to change the strings. - T106 tremolo w/ Comfort round Steel saddles This T106 bridge is equipped with newly developed comfort round Steel saddles. Its construction provides wider range of height adjustment and ease of setting up. Additionally, the screws are less likely to stick out, leading to less stress on your strumming hand and better playing comfort. - dyna-MIX9 switching system with Alter Switch The dyna-MIX 9 offers nine sound variations and can switch between humbucker and single coil modes with just a flick of the mini switch. One mode even simulates a humbucking sound from the combination of two single coil pickups. ****Special Features**** - 25 inch scale (AZES) AZES guitars feature a 25” scale length, which makes for an easier playing instrument for children and players of smaller stature. Additionally, as the 25”, medium scale is also large enough that the player can continue to grow with the instrument as they mature as a guitarist. - 250mm fretboard radius (AZES) The 250mm fretboard radius is not too flat, not too round, and makes for an excellent choice for the first-time player. This radius is a great middle ground that allows for learning to play each note correctly, while still maintaining a high degree of comfort. - Mono-unit output jack The mono-unit output jack is made of solid, durable material and is a single piece to avoid unwanted movement and loosening of the jack, which leads to contact failure or disconnection. This innovation allows for long term playing enjoyment and minimal maintenance. - All Access Neck Joint All Access Neck Joint offers superior playability at the high frets.

This is marketed at beginners but don't let that scare you away. Excellent quality on this strat style guitar with a lot of versatile sounds. The slightly shorter scale length makes it a great little practice guitar. I find myself picking it up instead of my much more expensive instruments. I can't say enough nice things about this guitar. I've modded it with locking tuners and a kill switch and now it's one of my favorite guitars. Absolute beginners may want to opt for the hard tail version because the trem takes a bit of knowledge / setup to work well but it's worth it to me.

Delivered on time with great packaging. The guitar is beautifully finished and sounds just as nice.

First off, it's a crapshoot on how good of a piece you get. I've played over a half dozen and happened to come across a really good one. Even then, it was basically a guitar building kit that was mostly pre-assembled.I ultimately ended up: significantly tightened the truss rod, tighted some loose screws the nuts, lubricated the all contact points, adjustedthe tremolo screws, adjusted the pickup heights, adjusted the saddle heights, then fixed the concerningly disastrous intonation situation, sanded the back of the neck, oiled the fretboard and neck (just with fretboard oil), and then polished the frets.NOW it's a very good guitar for the price. Got this as a travel/backup beater for my prestige models, the playability and capability is resembling enough to my plek'd prestige to make a good choice for consistent practice among different guitars. Nice pickup selection and versatility, but naturally the prestige is just a significantly more comfortable and better-sounding version of this, as it should be.For this price point, this is far beyond what most companies will offer. As I say to every new guitarist--either learn how to set up your guitars or pay to have someone do it right. Don't neglect this! This definitely fulfilled its intended role and was a great value, just don't expect it to sound like a higher end guitar and expect to put in a little work.

Feels like a toy & dynamix causing excessive noise in either position on single coils. Worst neck I’ve ever felt and whole thing feels hollow.

In this price range, you cannot find another guitar better than this. But you still need a professional to help you to setup, like neck, bridge, or intonation.

From top to bottom, I have yet to find an imperfection! Pickups sound great and the amazing assortment of tones are all quite usable. Love the 25" scale. The neck profile is not too thin but I wish it was a hair thicker. No fret buzz. Well balanced on a strap.
