This tap wrench is awesome, the T handle slides out. It has a square 3/8 socket drive hole at the top. I bought a 3/8 socket T handle for under 10 dollars on Amazon and it works great,

Having the ability to use a 3/8 ratchet extension to get into location that a t-handle won't allow is priceless in an engine compartment. This handy gadget saved me many hours of pulling an engine to rethread a bolt hole.

These tap wrenches are extremely versatile and are made really well. I use mine 3 different ways: With the included tap handle for easy work, with a 3/8" socket driver for quick work, or with the Die Driver handle (purchased separately) for tough work. I love all my Irwin Hanson tools. There are two sizes of this tool. I have both. I recommend purchasing both.

I had one of these from years ago that went missing and although I don't need it very often it's so handy to have and can be a real lifesaver at times unless you have a selection of extended tap wrenches. Extended wrenches really are preferred because there is no slop, but this isn't terribly wiggly with a ratchet extension and it has the advantage of letting you pick your reach using one or more extensions, which is great for on/in vehicle jobs. I was hoping these might just still be US made or maybe Taiwan, but like just about everything else Irwin, it's been moved to China manufacture. This is still good quality and worth buying, but there is a noticeable difference in that the jaws are a bit softer and fall off of the spring arm way too easily (not hard to rectify), and the threads are a little crunchy. Handle fits well and snug but not difficult to remove or adjust, knurling is excellent. Tap sockets are another viable alternative if loosening is an issue but you'll need a set of those.

It's very 'stubby'.The intended purpose was to save time by reducing the distance to lower Z-axis on a bridgeport mill with a drill chuck and spring center. Typical T-handle tap wrenches are double the length. However the item page did not have a picture of the back end. Missing is the center impression replaced with a pocket for a 3/8th square wrench.Included handle is quite short... I would imagine tapping a 1/2-13 would be difficult with the little leverage. This wrench holes a tap securely even when reversing. Whereas other tap wrenches tend to loosen up after several reverses.Update: April3/8 square drive is useful for speedy tapping. All 54 holes tapped in 40 minutes.

Works great, durable. I own several sizes of this tool, and all perform excellent. They still look like new after over a year of daily use. Very convenient when changing taps or tapping in tight spaces (since the tap handle can be moved towards either end for clearance, or taken out to use a ratchet handle.) Great Product!
