I have a recumbent bike which requires a extra long cable and this cable is 2300 mm. It is also stainless and very smooth. When cables are this long you need to have the least amount of friction in the cable housing.My shifts are easy and fast now.

I like the Jagwire product because the cables are pre-stretches and smooth so they shift easier. They have a coating that promotes smoothness. The main reason that I bought these shift wires is they are longer than average for a tandem rear shifter. They are 3100mm where your average shifter wire is 2100mm.It is important to note that the shift wire that I received is for standard Shimano or SRAM shifters and not Campagnolo.

Replaced rear derailleur cable for my 2005 Cannondale Mountain Tandem. The length was perfect - gave me a bit of extra length to make the job go smoother. Quality cable - smooth shifts and gave me a lot more options to optimize the long runs you need for this application. I noticed that it was really easy to thread through the cable housing I also purchased from Jagwire. Just went a lot easier than I had experienced with other brands. Would definitely buy again for my other bikes.

The description of item is correct, slick because it's drawn through dies to smooth the cable after it's made, and 3100mm long-- just what I needed for my recumbent bike. I was able to remove a too-short cable from a new SRAM X-O 9-speed shifter and feed this cable in. The cable had a cut end that looks like it was soldered or tinned so it would feed in without stripping off loose strands. Nice.To remove the short cable I opened the rubber access port and used a small screwdriver to pry the cable clip up and another to pry cable end out. With the old cable out you can see a small hole slightly larger than the cable diameter at the back of the port under the cable clip. Feed the cable end into this hole and through the shifter. There are better descriptions and illustrations online.
