This jack made installing my new wooden porch columns a piece of cake. Well made, and works exactly as it should. Great tool!

I ordered three of these jack posts to support a ceiling during renovation. The three posts were each shipped in separate cardboard shipping boxes. While they seem well made, one was missing one of the two large bolts (nut was also missing), so had to make a trip to the hardware store and shell out another $6 for the proper size bolt and nut. Upon opening the box for the second jack post, I found that the end of the outer steel pipe was bent (probably dropped during transport) such that the inner pipe would not slide inside it. Had to get out some tools to restore the bent pipe end to allow insertion of the inner pipe. Yes, I could have returned these items for replacement or refund, but I didn't have time to wait for delivery of replacement posts, so decided to just deal with it myself. After taking care of these problems, I installed the jack posts, and they are doing the job. I did decide to apply a little grease to the large screw threads prior to raising the posts, as the threads were pretty much dry upon arrival. The price was good, but the missing parts and damage during shipping led me to lower my rating.

Was straightforward to setup and put in place. It was missing one of the nuts for the bolts used for the large adjustments.

The end plates and screw do not have a solid connection to the post, so there is a certain amount of fiddling to get things set--it's doable by yourself but an extra set of hands will make it much easier. Once in place it works great.

The product had been opened and repackaged by someone. One end had been retaped with 2 different kinds of shipping tape. After I opened it, I found that several parts were missing. These missing parts weren't just some screws I could pick up at a hardware store but were major pieces of the item. The metal tubular pieces that were in the package were scratched up and had rust at the cut ends. It appeared to me that it had been used by someone, returned with parts missing and put back up for sale as new without checking the contents. My rating overall rating has to be ZERO because it was UNUSEABLE.

I am not a DIY junkie, but I do like to make improvements to my home on my own when I think it's easy enough for me to manage. After being informed by a structural engineer that my bay windows needed more support via lally columns, I took to researching how to accomplish this. Unfortunately, with the water heater, sump pump, and furnace all on that same short side of the wall on the floor below, I was anxious about installing permanent columns because the columns would make it difficult to remove and install new appliances when needed. These jack posts were a perfect solution. Since they are not my primary support, but are instead secondary support, they are a suitable for the job. In the event that I need to replace the water heater or furnace, I am glad to know that I will be able to remove one or both of these jack posts short term in order to make the replacement process easier. Each post came with the necessary hardware, but not the screws for the plates. You have to purchase those separately. I watched the video on Amazon twice to confirm I knew what to do, and then I installed both jack posts on my own. The only assistance I needed was from some painters tape to keep the jack post in a fairly steady spot under the support beam while I tightened the bottom spindle that created the tension to hold the jack post up on its own.The only tools I used were: 2 adjustable wrenches - one to keep the jack post from spinning and a second one to tighten the spindle, a drill, painters tape to hold the beam up, and a level.Took about 20-30 minutes per jack post to fully install.

I have four of these that have been holding a barn up for about 6 years now. A tree even fell on top of it, yet it still stands in protest of falling. The main beam is completely rotted in half, so the whole roof is on really 2 of them, the other 2 are under other beams where we determined there was a lot of load, especially with us putting these under the main beams and shifting the weight a bit. I just bought 4 more last week and they are currently employed as carport posts until I can replace them. High points include ease of install, ease of adjustment, and being able to adjust to ANY dimension from the shortest to tallest length advertised for the one you bought. You may have to turn the post 90 degrees to drop or raise it 3" instead of 6" (some ppl asked about this elsewhere), but it will move by the bolts 3", and the adjustment screw adjusts over 4", so as I said, you can literally have any length needed. A much better price than similar ones, but rated to hold just as much, so I consider them a great deal, especially if you have prime and free shipping. These days having to pay shipping probably still would make these cheaper than what you will find at the local hardware store (I know this for sure in NC near Asheville). Also, you can install them with the adjuster at the top or bottom, the instructions say for wood structures to actually put the large pole up top and the adjuster on bottom, and for temp or other things, put it on top, but they seem to work great either way. Hope this helps you decide.

These were easy to use and worked really well. I used them to jack up a deck while I replaced the old footings and posts and these worked great and were very stable. I like that they allow you to easily adjust them up or down enabling me to level the deck before measuring for new posts.I had one post that was a little over 9 feet tall, and I was able to build a little platform and then put these jack posts on top and replace that post without having to buy longer ones.Just make sure you have them secured well and use a level to make sure they are plumb and they work really well. I have already loaned them out to several neighbors who were also very impressed with the quality and ease of use.
