This is a very simple product but immensely useful. I'm an electrical engineer and I do lots of home projects with high current and I just discovered a device I have wanted to use more than 10 years ago. The contact high current device is not a relay, in other words it does not require a constant flow of current to keep the high current path closed. Instead it's a latching high current switch that when you apply a positive voltage we'll close the switch and then leave it mechanically closed without the need to constantly source current to it. When you apply reverse voltage it will move the contact to the open position and then doesn't need anything beyond that.Measure the idle current when it's on to be about 20 milliamps and when it's off the idle current is about 6 milliamp. This is still too much for your application then what you can do is put it in an on position or off position, then disconnect the 12 volt side that gives it power and it will remain in whatever switch state it was. This is going to be immensely useful in future projects and I will probably buy several in the future.

Picked up this 12V kill switch with a wireless remote for my car, and it’s been a great upgrade for added security and convenience. Installation was straightforward, with clear instructions and all the necessary wiring included. Once set up, the remote works flawlessly, letting me cut power to the car’s battery with the press of a button. The range on the remote is impressive, and it feels solid in hand—not flimsy like some other remotes I’ve used. The switch itself is compact and doesn’t take up much space under the hood. If you’re looking for an easy way to protect your car or prevent battery drain during storage, this kill switch is a fantastic option. Reliable, simple, and super handy to have!

I actually used this to replace another kill switch I already had. This one mounts directly to the battery post rigidly, which is great for my application. The last one just had a wire going to the battery terminal, so it could move around a bit. Which one you prefer will depend on your application, but this one is really convenient since it doesn't require any additional mounting brackets.Performance is fine, range seems to be about 30 yards for me, which is plenty.Overall, no complaints here. It works great and adds an extra layer of security, plus it works as a battery disconnect over the winter if you aren't driving your car.

I was able to get the unit installed in an NB Miata, but I had to shift the battery forward a bit under the bracket – and I’m not concerned about not seeing the display. Overall installation is pretty simple, complicated slightly by my inclusion of a pigtail for a battery tender/charger. More flexibility in installation configurations would be worth designing in.I haven’t done any range testing with the remote, but it works fine through my trunk (not under hood in this car). I wanted this device because I’ve had some battery rundown problems possibly tied to my modifications, and I don’t always want to go into the trunk to use a manual disconnect, partly because I often use a fitted car cover. Sometimes bad weather comes and I don’t drive for a week, in which case I can just hit the disconnect. I might just let it go awhile to see if the automatic disconnect works when the voltage gets low – and find out if the remaining power is enough to start the car.Reason being, every time you disconnect the battery, you lose certain information in the ECU, and the extent depends on the year and vehicle. If you use a product like this routinely rather than address the source of a problem, you’ll never be ready for emissions testing and won’t know if you have an emissions-related failure that otherwise would trigger a check-engine light. You’ll also lose any short-term fuel-trim adjustments and, again, depending on year, possibly more beneficial performance adjustments from so-called “learning” powertrains, including shift schedules.

When we don’t have our camper plugged into an external source for power, the battery runs flat due to the power draw from electronics in the circuit boards of the alarms and instruments. In the past I would have to remove the plastic cover from the battery, which is situated between the propane tanks and the camper body, to disconnect the negative cable from the battery. This was a time consuming process. This Kill Switch was a great find. I can now just walk past the battery and with a click I can switch the power on or off. (I appreciate it even more when it is raining!)One challenge I did have was when the kill switch was placed flat on top of the battery the negative terminal was too high for the battery post. I solved the problem by replacing the thin brass battery terminal with a lead terminal that was a ½ inch thick.Other than that it is working well for me.Review for: Kill Switch for Car with Led Voltage Display,12V 240A Remote Battery Disconnect Switch Smart Voltage Kill Switch, Car Kill Switch Anti Theft, Remote Battery Kill Switch for Car, Truck, RV

I've got a third gen muscle car. The car requires a specific key in order to start the vehicle. This is due to the fact that the key has a resister built into it that is "tuned" to a certain resistance which the ECM requires in order to start the car. Well, the car is old and the resistor in the key doesn't always make good contact. It's just a royal pain! So, replace the ignition key cylinder and/or get a new key, not really good options. My solution, get under the dash... solder in a permanent resistor and install this remote kill switch to do the job of securing the car! It works perfectly. Installation is far quicker and easier than a lock cylinder and key. I can get my ignition keys much easier (cause I only had one) and cheaper. I've had no issues (including no noticeable drain on the battery when it sits for a while). I can even go with console ignition switches at some point cause I don't need a key anymore. Perfect solution...
