About this item

  • Stands upright to prevent kitchen counter and dining table mess
  • Amusingly teeter-totters to prevent from being knocked over
  • Non-stick surface
  • Dishwasher safe
  • For serving only; not for use as a utensil when cooking with hot pans and pots

This rice paddle stands on its end thanks to a weighted handle. Since the end of the handle is slightly curved, the paddle amusingly swings and sways when you put it down. A non-stick surface prevents rice from sticking to the scoop.

It’s a really good rice paddle. I like how it stands up on it’s own as long as you don’t wobble it too much. Even the handle feels nice it’s a great fit for someone with big hands.

Awesome product with clever balancing design like a rolly poly toy....you know...weebles wobble but they don't fall down. 😂 It will fall if you push it too hard but normal use, nah... it's going to work as intended.Instructions say to soak in water before use and never scrub it with anything other than a soft sponge or it will scratch it and rice will stick. The remedy you ask? Spray with a kitchen bleach foam and let it sit for 15-30 minutes then rinse and wash it, dry it. This is a tool you need to take care of so it lasts. Don't get me wrong, this thing is heavy duty but if you want nice things you need to just not be abrasive with it. If you are unable to do this get a really cheap one you can beat up and toss when you're done with it. I think it's awesome!❤️

I have eaten Japanese rice all my life and have always owned a rice paddle and rice cooker. I love that this rice paddle stands up on its own like a weeble wobble. It’s so handy!!! The size is perfect for scooping out a good amount of rice and tha handle is comfortable in the hand. I would buy these as gifts for family members because it’s unique and totally functional especially for the price.

Well-designed and does exactly what it claims to do. This shamoji really does stand on its own, and rice doesn’t stick at all. Quality construction and material—thick and weighty (much better than the flimsy paddle that came with my Zojirushi rice cooker). One thing though: Don't wash with anything rougher than a sponge! I used the green “scrubby” side of those green/yellow sponges, and it might have made a few imperceptible scratches, because rice started to stick just a tiny bit. Still works great.

Generously sized, rice does not stick at all, stiff and sturdy, stands up on end as promised. I am SO glad I got this rice paddle. I previously got one that is silicone and the seller claimed rice would not stick to it, but it did stick to it, a lot. It also was flat whereas this rice paddle has a bit of curved scoop, which seems to help it work better as a scoop. Also, this may not be true for every rice cooker, but for mine I found that the paddle will stand on end on the lid handle, which is convenient and space-saving. I love this paddle, it's perfect.

I've been using either the flimsy rice paddle that came with my rice cooker (which is far too thin and isn't sturdy enough to fluff up my rice) or a wooden spatula (rice sticks onto it super easily) for the longest time. They both had downsides, but I was cheap so didn't want to buy a rice paddle. However, I saw this at a friends house and thought that the weighted handle was really neat so I purchased one as a gift for my parents. Now, the main point of this is the weighted handle, and in in that respect, it's so-so. It stands up well enough, but the self-righting only works for a limited range of angles, so that didn't wow me or my parents. What did surprise them though was how well the non-stick works! They (like me) are also cheap and never thought to purchase a rice paddle, but they love how easy this thing is to clean. Add onto it the fact that it stands up by itself, and I'd say it's well worth the asking price. I liked it enough that I bought one for myself as well.

This thing is awesome for two reasons. First it keeps your rice paddle upright so you don’t get your rice paddle dirty and so you keep the rice starch from drying in whatever surface you place it on. Cooked rice grains can dry into something like crunchy pieces of glue. The second major advantage is the handle actually is ergonomic. Most paddles have thin handles that require more fine motor manipulation. Not a big deal unless you’ve got sore hands from cooking and cleaning all day. And in that case this paddle is a dream. The handle fills the palm of the hand so you don’t have to use much finger strength to easily scoop the rice. This would be a big plus for anyone with arthritis or sore hands. The quality of the construction seems great. We put it through the dishwasher with no issues. It’s got nice texture in the paddle face. My only issue is that I thought I ordered the orange color and ended up with pink. It turns out it was my mistake but the color really doesn’t matter. Give this thing a try, you’ll be glad you did.
