Product Description

Amazon.com This is not your grandmother's pressure cooker. After two generations of busy cooks employed pressure cookers to prepare family meals, the next generation with memories of valves dancing and hissing on stove-tops then snubbed pressure cookers. Now pressure cookers have come back, those old valves replaced by modern versions that ensure safety while delivering the speed, ease, and nutritional benefits of pressure cooking. This heavyweight 18/10 stainless-steel beauty is a fine example of contemporary engineering and style. Its mirror finish gleams, and its black handles stay cool. Its spring valve doesn't hiss unless too much steam has built up and the heat needs turning down. Two other valves offer backup safety, and the top automatically locks until all pressure has been released. Pressure-cooking traps steam to heat foods at temperatures higher than boiling. This cooker has an aluminum disk sandwiched by stainless steel in its base to speed the process even more through fast heat conductivity. Little water is required, so nutrients, flavor, and color are not boiled away. At 9.75 inches diameter and 3 inches deep, this 2-1/2-liter (2.65-quart) cooker resembles a deep frying pan. A waffle pattern on the bottom releases food quickly after browning. Cleanup is a bit involved: hand wash the cooker, rubber gasket, and lid with a mild detergent; lightly oil the gasket. Minor cleaning inconvenience, however, should not overshadow the major convenience of pressure cooking. Accompanying the cooker is a 92-page pressure-cooking recipe booklet. --Fred Brack From the Manufacturer Whether you are cooking soups, meat, vegetables or potatoes, or even sterilising babies bottles, everything is more relaxed with the Kuhn Rikon Duromatic pressure cooker and itis up to 3 times faster than conventional cooking methods too. Risotto in 7 minutes? Crme Caramel in 10 minutes? No problem with the Duromatic. This 2.5 litre Kuhn Rikon Inox Pressure Frying Pan with long handle has a timeless design, is easy to use and is a practical classic. The aluminium heat-conducting base is especially thick and ensures rapid and even heat absorption on all heat sources, including induction. Three safety release systems and stay cool plastic fittings are all included in the design for your safety in the modern busy kitchen. The interior of the pan features and 2/3 fill level indicators. You can brown meats in the pan before the lid is locked on, or use the pan without the lid. Easy positioning triangles allow you to close the lid with the minimum of fuss, whilst all models in the Duromatic range feature the fully-automatic locking system which prevents opening while there is still pressure in the cooker. As the food begins to boil, any air present in the pressure cooker will firstly escape through the spring-loaded pressure valve and then the valve cap will move up. The pressure indication lines become visible and you are able to cook effortlessly at low (0.4 bar) or high (0.8 bar) pressure by adjusting the heat. You can then just enjoy the peace and quiet and once your food inside is ready, the pressure can be released in three safe and easy ways. Cooking with the Duromatic takes about 1/3 of the usual cooking time, with an energy saving of up to 70%. This saves you money and is also good for the environment. Vitamins are sealed in, instead of boiled away, vegetables keep their bright colours and flavours are so intense less seasoning is needed. Pressure cooking can be daunting, but the Instruction Manual included with your new purchase includes an extensive table of cooking times as well as cleaning and care recommendations to get you started and enjoying the benefits of this heavyweight, stainless-steel beauty. And if you needed any more encouragement to get cooking, you can also download a Fresh Food Fast recipe booklet from www.kuhnrikon.co.uk which includes at least 20 delicious ideas, including tips on how to use your new pressure cooker to produce jams and chutneys, Christmas pudding and Curried Chicken Casserole in a fraction of the normal time. The cookware is guaranteed for 10 years against faults, but excludes normal wear and tear. Replacement parts are available separately.

Uso da moltissimi anni queste ottime pentole a pressione e me ne serviva una adatta all’induzione. Ottima come le vecchie adatte aifornelli a gas.

The quality is unquestionable. I had owned and used a full sized Kuhn Rikon pressure cooker for family meals for several years. After becoming an empty-nester I purchased this size to cook meals for only 2 people. It's perfect! Easy to use and easy to clean. If it has burnt food on the bottom - be patient and let it soak overnight. Then it will clean up easily.

The frying pan is great; I bought two, one for me and one for my sister, but I had an issue with the safety valve after two years of using it. I ordered from Amazon the part to replace it. Now, my sister has the same issue. Unfortunately, I was not successful in finding this part. I think the company should make all the parts available for consumers to purchase.

Ahorra mucho tiempo y gastos.

This is a quality bit of kit. People are afraid of pressure cookers due to copious stories from decades ago where the kitchen was blown up and granny was catapulted onto the roof!! Times have changed and it's a great way of cooking - quick and retaining all the taste and goodies. I do wish though that all these kitchen equipment companies would provide a decent recipe book with their products - they are charging lots of money for items and not bunging in a bit of PR material too. I can't see why they don't combine decent recipes in their instruction books and at least look as though they fully back the product.UPDATE - I've been using this since received and I can say that I am still really pleased with it. I would still highly recommend it. Now that we're into Autumn / Winter, it will really earn its money with casseroles, stews etc - meat comes out incredibly tender and the taste is all secured within. It seems expensive, but I've found it well worth every penny.

I have 2 Kuhn Rikon pressure cookers (2.65 qt purchased in 2008 and 5.25-qt model in 2007). They're great for cooking at sea level, but, now living at an altitude of 7,000-foot, I consider them to be kitchen essentials. If I could have only one size, I'd go with the larger 5.25-qt model and just cook extra food to freeze, since a minimum volume has to be met. Given my KR pressure-cooker love, though, it's nice having both sizes.I've loved both of my KR pressure cookers & have used them regularly. At this high altitude, it takes a whole lot of precious fuel and half of forever for water to get to a low boil. I'd had my larger pressure cooker for a long time before it suddenly dawned on me that -- in addition to cooking things in it -- I could also save a ton of time & fuel when cooking pasta by boiling water in it to transfer into my regular pasta-cooking pot. If I used it only for that purpose, it would have long since paid for itself.I'm surprised that I've not yet had to replace the gasket in either pot. I wash and store my gaskets gently but, even so, didn't expect their longevity and continuing great condition. I haven't had to replace any other parts, either. Upon other reviewers' recommendations, I purchased the KR Energy Saver / Flame Protect and highly recommend it. In addition to using it with my pressure cookers, I use it for (1) more even browning of food on the stove top; and (2) achieving a very low simmer, which is otherwise impossible to do with my stove burners. For whatever it's worth, if the idea of pressure cooking makes you nervous, I used to be really scared of it myself. I'd heard too many horror stories about old cookers blowing up and how the cookers had to be constantly and closely monitored. My Kuhn Rikon pots have never given me a moment's worry, and I feel completely safe in using them. This has freed me up to worry about other stuff. :))

I fell in love with the Kuhn Rikon Pressure Cooker the minute I took it out of the box. It's very sturdy, stylish and well made with a minimum of plastic. I'd emailed the company directly to make sure the Amazon products were in fact made in Switzerland. They responded within a few hours to all my emails and yes all of their products are made in Switzerland.( I had just returned a Fagor cooker for safety reasons but was also very disappointed that Amazon didn't print in their ad that it was made in China). I've only had the Kuhn Rikon for a week but so far it's very easy to use, the food tastes great and the clean up is quick. Using a pressure cooker one has to be confident in the product to fully enjoy the experience and this one works great for me. I highly recommend this product.

We have had a 5.25 qt Kuhn Rikon pressure cooker for 4 years, for daily use that one was a bit big to handle. We were looking for a smaller 2.5 to 4 qt pressure cooker for quick one time portion meals for 3- 4 people. We tried other brands, both for money savings and variety, and after being disappointed with the construction and quality returned them promptly. We decided to plunge again into Kuhn Rikon, ordered this 2.5 qt Pressure Cooker. Wife is happy - appropriate for small, quick meals, is easy to handle, clean, and store. It feels and looks solidly constructed which makes it slightly on the heavier side for it's size.If you are already familiar with pressure cooking then Kuhn Rikon is the best in class, and if you are already aware of Kuhn Rikon, there is nothing more to add. If the size is right for you, it will serve many, many years.

Right from the get-go this pressure frying pan worked great. I felt sort of on my own because there aren't a lot of pressure frying recipes out there. But I am an experienced pressure cooker user so I felt fairly confident jumping in. One of my favorites is slow-roasted tomatoes, 2 hours or so in the oven - 7 minutes in the PC frying and I couldn't tell the difference. A beautiful job of frying potatoes, 5 minutes prep, 2-3 minutes browning potatoes, 5 minutes PC and you're ready to go. In other words you can brown and pressure cook with oil with this pan and when you add water, you add a lot less than with a regular PC. it's a well-made unit which you would expect for the price. Those are the pros, the cons:Instruction book inferior like many from Europe. Almost nothing about the frying pan and I find some of the suggested times to be a bit off too. Recipe book mixes in a few frying pan recipes with regular PC recipes which makes them hard to find. They need a separate frying pan instruction book and separate recipes for FP.There is a little safety valve which comes unattached to the top. Difficult to find clear instructions on how to attach and once attached has a tendency to fall off. Poor design.because of 'dimpled' bottom of FPPC no trivet is included as with other KR PC's.( Dimpled bottom supposedly acts as a trivet.) But some of FP recipes call for a trivet so it should be included.
