I have a Silca floor pump that I’ve renovated and renewed since 1977 - great pump for sure. But now I have a place overseas, and needed a second pump. Couldn’t really justify the cost of a new Silca, so I did some checking and got this one. I am seriously happy with it. It’s the “tall” version, and so is a lot easier on my ol’ back. The gauge is big and easy to read, and matches the pressure readings from my separate gauge. Gets tires up to pressure (I use tubulars - 95 front, 100 back) quick and easy. Some folks don’t seem to like the screw-on chuck, but I like it a lot - takes a moment to get it screwed on, but it’s a nice, positive seal. Sure, it doesn’t have the “cred” of a classic Silca, parts still available 50 years on, but in terms of practical daily use, this beats the Silca - quite a high bar to get over!

Everything about this bike pump is excellent. It threads on to both presta and shrader valves very reliably, it has good seals and pumps very efficiently and the tall narrow plunger means it takes little force to achieve pressures over 100PSI while delivering a similar flow rate as a normal bike pump. The build quality and finish are also excellentGranted it's quite expensive and unnecessary for most bikes, but if you have a road bike, it is well worth it. No more struggling to seal the presta valve or pushing the pump with all your weight to get the right pressure.

I am an road cyclist so have to have a pump that can pump up 115-120# reliably. I have the previous version of this steel drive floor I purchased a few years back as well as this version with the bigger dial, and angled fill valve. First off the screw on fill valve is the same as the older version from what I can see and a real joy to use when compared to pumps with the clamp on fill valve. These screw on valves seal up tight on the tire's presta valve and do not pop off when the pressure gets over 50psi. The o-ring has lasted to this day on my older version of this pump and I don't see a reason why this one will not last that long either. Also if needing a replacement rubber o-rings, they can be found in a Home Depot, or Lowes store. The bigger dial of the new version is very much welcomed and the hose is a high quality high pressure hose and long enough to easily reach your tire fill value no matter what position it may be in on the wheel. The reason for buying this 2nd pump is to keep one for presta and the other for my wife's Schrader valve bicycle, and have a backup around if needed. From my military days I've learned to always have a backup system available. When pumping up with this pump I get about 5-7psi per stroke so it is pretty quick to get my tires up to 115psi. I am very happy with this pump which seems to be of the same quality as the older version I have, so would recommend it without hesitation as the old one has lasted so long.

I'm fairly new to riding bikes: I didn't have one as a kid. So even though bicycles are 'simple' and inflating tires is 'super simple' I struggled with inflating tires myself. Whatever person I asked, YouTube video I watched it nearly always started with some version of 'so simple la la la presta/schrader psi boom done!' To the point where I think I would even pay money to watch a video where someone would just explain bicycle things like they would to a child space alien in a kind and gentle way.The guys at the shop were always nice but they always talk super fast (they are always so busy) and I'd just nod along hoping that I did pick up the details I needed and I just haven't.I looked for books that were the right level of depth. I looked for more videos, pamphlets...I struggled to understand what kind of valve I had. Even if I asked somehow in a week the name would escape me and my post-it with the information would be lost.Worst of all- I was constantly defeated by an expensive 'professional' bicycle pump that the salesperson had talked me into. Even reviews online said it was a great pump. For years I tortured myself with this pump - I broke valves about once every 5 times -even though I'd watch a video before, think I have the process down and just...ruin tire after tire until I stopped trying. I'd just go the entire summer until my tires would get so deflated I'd stop riding until I would take the bike for a tune up the next year.I was drawn by this pump because it screws in rather than having that lever that is supposed to create the seal with the tire. I was hoping I'd have an easier time with this mechanism. When the pump arrived, the tag had very simple instructions and I googled the bike pump and how to use it and there was a video that went through how to use it (albeit at the usual too fast, too much assumed knowledge pace). But I took some notes and went to try to inflate my tires.And... I finally did it! After 5 years of trying to inflate my tires and feeling frustrated and embarrassed- I did it! And it was straightforward to do and I felt like I had a good idea of whether or not my seal was successful and detaching it didn't feel like I had to be some sort of magical speed ninja - I could take my time and feel like I did it right and not break the valve. Also pump the tire was smooth and easy. My old pump required a certain speed and force that would always feel like an intense work out. This was so much easier.I wish I had known about this pump sooner and that part of the problem was that I didn't have the right pump for me and my skill level. Now I'm really excited to be able to keep my bicycle tire pressure right and have great rides all summer! Thanks Lezyne for such a great product and the informative video!
