While these look great, they aren't always heavy enough to prevent books from falling over. I had both of mine fall over at various times because the books were leaning a bit. I had a head pop off and a hand. I still am using them because they are pretty, but definitely don't rely on keeping your heavier books upright if you are using these.

Like most people who purchase this item, I am a huge fan of Tolkien's work. I bought this for my father who turns 85 this year. He introduced me to the series. He has first edition prints and some lovely pictures. I just wanted something to frame the books nicely. They are sturdy, heavy, and they look just really awesome. They fit on his bookshelf perfectly, the size is ideal, and they are holding ALL his Tolkien work in place, so yeah, they are functional. ❤️

I was expecting these to be a lighter resin. These things are heavy! At over 3 lbs each, they're tall and weighty - perfect for supporting your dragons-hoard of Middle Earth books, or simply decorating your space. ;)Some of the finer details could be better, but you wouldn't necessarily notice unless you look reeeally close. Any imperfections I attribute to them being statues carved out of the side of a cliff.On the whole, these are really stinking cool to look at and a great conversation piece! Definitely adds a certain solemnity to your library. A must-have for LOTR fans.

Honestly, I was expecting these to be crummier quality based on the reasonable price - nope, these are nice and weighty, came in solid (good packaging/well-packed), and they look neat.

These made a great addition to our TV room (aka Nerd Cave--we also have lightsabers, movie posters, LOTR-style state maps, etc...), and they took a place of honor on either side of the TV.They are well weighted, but aren't necessarily useful as bookends as they don't have a flat side to hold up books without potentially damaging covers. They're more for decoration, which is what I imagine most people would use them for.There are some rough edges, I think from the seam in the molds, and a couple bubbles in the resin, so they're not perfect. But, for the price, they're a fun addition to our room.
