This thermostat worded very well and I liked it a lot UNTIL 1 3/4 months in - then nothing except an ER where the temp was supposed to be. Nothing in the directions or on line said what that ER was, and the man who installed it and my new thermostat (NOT LUX) said not sure what went wrong, but not working. So, no more LUX for me.

Thing lasted 12 months, contacted LUX was told new one on its way never showed up, Would not recommend, not standing behind warranty, not good when it quits in winter.

I have an steam boiler that heats an old brick three-flat. For the steam to be evenly distributed to all units, the boiler must be energized for an extended period of time. So I need to set "the swing" (the degree difference between the cut-on and cut-off settings) at 2.5 degrees. But most of the current thermostats don't allow you to program the swing (which is factory set, usually at 0.25 or 0.5 degrees). If I used those thermostats, the first floor unit would be warm and the third floor unit would be cold. So I appreciate that Lux thermostats allow the customer to set the swing according to their unique needs. Plus a wider swing will prevent your boiler or furnace/AC from cycling excessively. As far as the remaining features, the Lux is user-friendly and easy to program. Reasonably priced, as well. Five stars from me!

This is the best thermostat I have ever installed on basic heat/cool system! The display has huge easy to read numbers and a backlight that lights up for 10 seconds. It's simple to install, program and calibrate if required. There are Hold and Override functions too.I purchased it because most other brands do not have such a low differential setting available and cause the rooms to have huge uncomfortable temperature swings. This thermostat is so good it keeps the rooms at a steady comfortable temperature.Only negative is it has to be unclipped from its back wall plate to change the batteries.

It doesn't have all he bells and whistles as the hugely expensive ones. Well depending upon what your needs are this will work 100% perfectly. The specific use for this thermostat is in an area of my home which is called for heat only (the a/c is driven by another zone) It was a quick install and works just fine. Easy to program and looks very neutral on the wall which is another plus. For the money go for it - you can't buy it at any local store for less or even double!

So many programming options and the installation was a piece of cake. Programming instructions were so easy to follow.Works like a charm. Replaced a manual 28 years old Honeywell thermostat in my house (with mercury switch). It looks beautiful (stunning optics). I am very happy with this thermostat. Actually I bought 4 more. Two for a charitable organization and a friend of mine wanted two. Thanks

The only thing I found difficult about installation was having to drill a couple of new holes in the wall because it didn't fit the same way as the old one. Other than that it was straightforward. I really like the flexibility of the settings and I had to experiment with them a bit at first to get things just right. I'm quite satisfied with the way I have it set up now. It's definitely better than the one I replaced with it. I really like the fact that it uses AA batteries instead of AAA because they're less expensive. I also like the fact that it has a three-year warranty instead of just one-year. I definitely recommend this model.

Super programmable thermostat. I have another older thermostat running my gas furnace and use this in tandem for an outdoor boiler hooked into the forced air system. My old thermostat and this one differed by about a half degree and the tolerance of the older thermostat made it unpredictable which heat source would kick in first. Not only is this thermostat fully programmable, and easily copies from one day to the next, but all of the calibrations can be programmed as well. I adjusted the temperature reading by the half a degree difference and set the offset so this thermostat maintained the temperature within a half a degree. Amazing thermostat for the price. Good for a standard setup, but this will not work for every situation and will not control line voltage electrical systems. If you have a standard forced-air heating/cooling system, this is a great little product. It is battery operated, so remember to routinely change the AA batteries in the unit.

Works as it should and easy to install, but there is no display or button (the "preset setting" button on Honeywell) to see what temp it is set to. Since there are 4 periods per day, 7 days, and AC or heat, it is easy to forget what you set it to (if you were the one that set it in the first place, otherwise you really would have no way of knowing). The only way to tell where it is set is to go into the programing mode, which is a pain since you have to go through each period and can accidentally change it. I guess you could press temp up or down, but you don't necessarily want to change the temp just to see where it is set. In hindsight, I should have paid the extra $ for a unit where it displays the setting in the corner.

So far I'm pretty impressed. My old one was starting to have troubles (it would actually randomly cut the fan off and on a lot during cooling) so I decided to take a chance on a brand I've never heard of. One of the first things I noticed between the two is the old one is a lot more old fashioned with huge capacitors and resistors everywhere and etc while this one has almost nothing at all on the back end of the board and presumably small SMD components on the front. Much more modern definitely. The screen is very clear and easy to work with -- far better than the old one -- and programming is overall easier except some of the advanced settings are very proprietary (some are just numbers. Setting #1, 1, 2, 3, etc.) If you lose the manual you have to pull it apart to see the very minimal guide on the inside (which doesn't go into details) or google for another copy of the manual. Chances are you never need to change any of those after the first time though and I'd bet that it remembers them even if the batteries die.Pretty much the only real room for improvement I really saw is that, as usual, there are only whole numbers. With Fahrenheit this isn't as big of a deal, but if you like to use Celsius as I do, at many times you really kind of want a bit more precision (0.5 intervals would probably be perfect.) One degree change in Celsius is equivalent almost to two degrees Fahrenheit (more or less anyway,) so while I understand the oversight since most develop these with Fahrenheit in mind, it is a bit annoying that so few think of this. I set the swing temperature a bit higher (setting #8, value on 2 if I recall) and it helps a bit since it will cool just a tiny bit more before it shuts off, but it also takes a bit longer to kick in I suppose. After some playing around I seem to have found a point that is fairly comfortable anyway, but it seems silly because I tested its temperature calibration and I think it internally does actually recognize 0.1C precision internally, it just doesn't give you access to that level of precision.

Nice item with lots of features and options. I bought it mainly for the adjustable differential feature. Our gas furnace was cycling on and off too frequently and burned out the gas igniter way too soon. Now it cycles about half as often with the differential set at "5" which is +/- 1.25 degrees. Display is large and back lit for easy night viewing. Controls are all on the front and easy to set and use. Programming is simple and easy with separate programs for heating and cooling. You can even calibrate the temperature sensor if you need to. It has everything I want - I love it.
