Discovered silver tip while having afternoon tea in London. Thought I would give this a try, even though it is from a different region than the one I had. I like it. Whole tips. Very delicate definitely a very delicate drink.

These Silver Needle White Tea leaves are very fresh, aromatic, and flavorful. The dry tea leaves are slightly fuzzy with a floral grassy smell. The tea itself has a subtle sweet flavor with fruity undertones.I usually use a pinch or so for a small cup or two and steep for > 5 min as I prefer a stronger flavor.

I don't claim to be a tea connoisseur, but I've been a steady tea drinker for more than 20 years, having sampled between 6 and 10 during that time, including 3 or 4 white teas. I have my favorites. But this "Silver Needle White Tea | Chinese Silver Tips Tea | Bai Hao Yin Zhen" is simply the best tea of ever had. I use what probably amounts to a generous tablespoon to make 12 ounces of this delicious brew at a time. Unlike other loose teas, this Silver Needle White is not at all "brittle" to the touch, but feels rather like rolled flower petals, though not at all "wet." I steep it for about 3 minutes. Unlike other white teas (including some delicious ones) which range in color from light to dark brown, this Silver Needle tea is what I would describe as clear pale brownish-pink. And remember, I'm probably using a little more than most people might. I'd describe the aroma as fresh, clean, delicate, slightly "floral" aroma, which is not quite as pronounced as my second favorite tea, "Royal King White Peony Tea." It has a very faint natural sweetness, but I add 1/4 teaspoon of Truvia (stevia) sweetener to my 12 oz cup of Silver Needle. By the way, I find I can make a second brew (an 8 oz serving) using the same leaves I used for the original 12 ounces...and it has only slightly less color and flavor as the first brew. If color and flavor are any indication, this second serving is probably also packed with antioxidants I would be missing if I'd just tossed the leaves out after the single use.

I am not a tea expert but I've been drinking silver needle white tea exclusively for a few years. I drink it because of it's relaxing affects on the mind and body. I also drink it for its antioxidants. I really really like this tea. Its not bitter. Its light yet flavorful. I taste more of a fruity undertone. It smells good. It smells inviting. I don't think it smells very flowery, but more on a light fruit, maybe with an undertone of flowery. It does not smell like hay or grass. It comes packaged in a thick quality plastic zip-lock. Fresh! It was packed tightly, so I was expecting to see broken buds. But the buds were full and whole. None broken. They were on the lightly colored side as the photo shows. No twigs, no leafy stuff, just full buds. It arrived next day. I'm very happy with it. I like to mix mine with a teaspoon of peach preserves and a teaspoon on honey. Yummy!I've come to learn silver needle is high in anti-oxidants. It also has a very calming affect due to its naturally occurring L-theanine. I've become addicted to this tea due its calming affect.P.S. Don't even waste time and money trying any of the other silver needle teas. I've already made that mistake a few times and each time I come back to this.

I brewed this tea Eastern Style using a 190 ml teapot and followed temp suggestions at 185℉. To brew in a teapot I used approximately 6 grams of tea and used steep times of 45 sec, 60 sec, 90 sec, 140 sec, 180 sec. While the steep times were tentative, next time I will use longer steeps to start as I feel it would deepen the flavors already present.Dry Leaf Aroma/Appearance: The leaf buds are fuzzy with down and quite lovely and soft to the touch.(You can see in the picture I took that the leaf buds are definitely fuzzy!) The dry leaf was sweet and smelled of fresh apricots and melons. There was also a hint of sweet grass aroma.Wet Leaf: The wet leaf leaf has a lightly spiced and woodsy aroma with the apricot and fruit aroma returning later on.Tea Liquor Aroma/Taste: The tea liquor smells of lightly spiced cinnamon with sweet vanilla. The taste is also sweet with hints of vanilla and a light cinnamon flavor. It leaves a wonderfully creamy mouthfeel, causes salivation and makes you anticipate the next sip. There is no bitterness or astringency only a sweetness. The fruit and apricot flavors are present in later steeps mixed with the light cinnamon and vanilla flavors. It is a very yummy and comforting tea. A wonderful tea to have on a cold morning in winter or anytime your heart fancies. My entire family enjoyed this tea with me.Final Thoughts: This tea has a wonderful aroma beginning from the dry leaf to the tea liquor. It is substantially different from the dry leaf to the wet leaf so don’t let that get you off track. It is sweet and has a very balanced flavor with a creamy texture that leaves you wanting to try that next sip. The tea liquor is light golden yellow as is to be expected with white teas. I enjoyed the contrast of the different flavors that occurred within each steeping. It is a very light and delicate tea which is nice to have sometimes when you don’t want anything too heavy and it was perfect outside on a hot day. I would definitely recommend this tea as an anytime tea and especially one that would be nice on cold days for comfort. I enjoyed this tea and would definitely purchase it again.
