Came with no instructions and does not wind correctly. Or at least I can't get it too with no instructions and watching a video someone made.

I just received this yarn winder as my New Year’s gift to myself. It came with easy to understand assembly instructions, both written and pictorial which help you get the beautiful wooden winder assembled in just minutes. I have never used a mechanical winder before but it was very easy to use after a quick review of one being used on YouTube. I made several cakes of yarn with a center pull in just a few minutes, much quicker and the cakes were sturdier and denser than the ones I roll by hand. My only complaint is no real directions on how to USE the thing after assembly is included nor is there a website offered for you to go to for you to learn.

This is an absolutely beautiful yarn winder & swift set. I love seeing it in my home. I do use it, but not often as it can be finicky.All of the pieces arrived well packaged, and I found the assembly fairly intuitive.Storage is a little bit up to you. I like to keep mine out on display as it is beautiful. If you wanted to tuck it away though, you would need a fairly large storage compartment as the winder is long, and the swift is tall.The one 'clamp' provided for the winder does not hold it to the table very well, causing it to slide and bounce around. I've managed to get a few great looking cakes out of it, but most are wonky. Usable, but wonky.It also made an annoying squeaking sound when I'd use it. I just added wax to the metal bits which helped a lot.If you have the patience to deal with the "issues" I've listed, then this is worth the money.

I love this thing! So helpful and much more sturdy/worth the money than the plastic ones. It’s small enough to put away easily without super small parts to get lost. Took like 5 minutes to set up.

I ordered this because my old yarn winder was slipping gears and not working the greatest. Thought I would try out a wooden one. I think it is beautiful and I have already caked quite a few balls. It is much quieter than my old one and moves smoothly while looking good enough I could just display it on a shelf. Quality is smooth wood and the instructions that come with it makes it easy to put together quickly. Package was well wrapped for all the pieces. Only started using it today but would highly recommend based on what I have seen so far. Smooth operation and cakes come out really nice. It was also shipped quickly and received within less than 48 hrs of placing the order late on a Friday night.

Worked perfectly after assembly. Came with detailed color instructions and worked perfect on my first try. And it looks really nice. Love it!

Craftmanship was poor in general -wobbly turning wheel, splinters, but the kicker is that the winder wouldn't fit on the spindle so the first step in assembling couldn't be done.
