I started getting into fountain pens when I was trying to go less wasteful in my life in general. While fountain pens are really, really cool.. they are also quite a learning curve, with a lot of gadgets, components, and troubleshooting. Then I found out about glass pens and decided to give it a try because I don't hand write things often and filling up an inkpen has a lot of maintenance to it. I gave this one a shot because it had a used-but-still-good discount and I am so very happy I did.It writes smoothly. You can visually see when you're about to run out of ink. Even when I stopped a second and went to do a thing, and came back, the ink wasn't immediately dried to the pen or anything. The clean up was a breeze--just dip in water and gently swish around. I was able to get a mini-envelope page's worth of writing out of it. Cards and small greetings are my main handwritten items. If you're looking for a practical less waste solution for your work or school I recommend something easily refilled like fountain pens or multi-pens (I have a few hi-tec coletos and love them so much!). But if you want to practice your handwriting, want to write with a cup of tea in hand, have a rainy afternoon to write a nice card to a friend, or just want to eliminate plastic out of your life entirely... I would say this is a really good and Super affordable option.Accessories I highly recommend: a chopstick rest (for setting the pen down briefly), a cheap cotton cloth to put all of your pen workings on (in case of any drips), and a small cup of water (I think the oui yogurt glass cups are perfect here), and another small cloth to dry the pen inbetween ink washings.

This dip pen is as pretty as its picture. I would say it’s comparable to a fine nib.

I bought this to try to make a dent in my supply of shimmer ink that I never should have bought in the first place because it gunks up my pens. For that purpose, it works great. Under a loupe, I inspected the tip and saw that it was not damaged at all, like other people have complained about. Maybe I got lucky? Regardless, this pen works well, is okay to hold (although not the most comfortable pen in the world), and is quite attractive to look at. I think it is probably liable to break if someone looks at it funny, but so far so good. I'm happy with the purchase and would buy it again if I had a do-over.

A glass dip pen that actually writes! I’ve tried several fountain pen inks and most wrote well. I wrote with Noodler’s bulletproof black, and Noodler’s Nightshade and both inks worked well. Pelikan 4001 Royal Blue worked too. Noodler’s Bad belted kingfisher was not good with this glass nib, the ink just slid off and was difficult to write with. This is a great glass dip pen provided you use the right ink and smooth paper.

This is gorgeous in person, the pictures don't do it justice. The colors are vivid and once I got into it I was able to write pretty well with it! It's stunning, very mermaidy, mystical/whimsical. Worth a purchase!

From reading other reviews I was watching to see if my pen would arrive with a broken tip since it is fragile. Sure enough, the very top arrived broken off. I couldn’t find the broken piece in the package, and the packaging actually is very good, so I would assume it happened in manufacturing sometime. However, I’m not returning it, and actually count the defect as a feature. I had bought the pen for the purpose of trying out inks without dipping pen nibs in ink with all the cleaning process that goes on with that. And what I found is that one side of the pen writes with a fine point, and the other with a very broad point. It’s terrible for writing, but for seeing how inks react with different size nibs it’s like a two-for-one! I’ve now used it to create a swatch book for all my inks.So in general this review adds to the concern that these pens do regularly arrive broken on delivery. But if you do get a broken one, maybe there’s a hidden use for it anyway!

Wow! Just got this today and used for the first time. I am a fountain pen fan and got this to test inks without filling a whole cartridge, plus its gorgeous to look at. It writes better and easier than I expected. The pic shows what I wrote with 1 dip of Noodlers Apache Sunset. The variations in the ink are evident and one thing I love about using fountain pen ink. This glass pen is well balanced and feels good in my hand. I'm very tactile when it comes to feel and weights if my pens. The tip if fine so you need a bit of care and a light hand when using but it is a smooth write. Very pleased with this purchase.

I really want to love this dip pen, but it’s not living up to my expectations. I’ve had this for a few weeks and this pen simply doesn’t perform well. Using quality fountain pen inks on quality fountain pen paper, the pen does not lay down a consistent line of ink. The only way I can get anything close to acceptable is to use a fully loaded nib/feed and write very slowly. I assume the tip wasn’t ground properly. I also noticed that the pen is not straight either. I don’t know if that was by design, but this isn’t the case with the other glass dip pen I own.Overall, I really like the appearance of the pen, but it just doesn’t work.

1000円以下とは思えないほどキラキラで素敵なペンで、とても良かったです軸は四角形なので長時間書くにはつらそうですが、安定感があり、ペン置きがなくてもインクがテーブルに付いたり転がらなそうです。
