A few refillable 1 lb propane cylinders out there but this seems to be the best. Built in easy to use bleed valve, comes with a top, holds just over a pound of propane. (I weighed it empty and then full on a park tool gram scale)

So far, so good. Decided to get rid of the older (dangerous) 1 lb propane cylinders that I had been refilling, with questionable success. This appeared to be a better option, and obviously, much safer. So far, everything has worked just as described, and all seems well. The tanks fill quickly and completely. Good job (Fuel Keg) Mr Heater !

I was a little disappointed when they came because there was a little surface corrosion on a couple of bare metal parts (not the brass) at the top. I consulted with the tech support people and was told that I could just remove the corrosion and it would be fine. I did and it is. I have also had some issues with the O-ring and plastic collar around the fill/use valve area. The issue is currently with tech support with a promise of some warranty support. It seems this may be a known issue. Not a killer, but pay attention to this.

So far - I might now prefer these over the larger competitor. They are a bit heavier (than flame king), but it makes them feel higher quality. They DO need a filler kit - or you won't be able to fill them. I have a little buddy heater, and it fits fine in the base. I love the little twist valve on the neck of the bottle, that allows fo rletting off building pressure when the bottle is being re-filled, This avoids having to use a tiny hex key that has to be used w Flame King. This is a great product for a good price!

What I DO like:These are well engineered, well made, and simple to refill. With the break-even point of refilling these Mr. Heater Fuel Kegs with $0.80 of propane, over buying single use Coleman canisters at $6 each, being 20 refills, which will pay for the refill kit (refill adapter and feet for the 20lb/30lb "supply" tank), and four (4) Fuel kegs. So, after 20 refills, you will be saving $5.20 each time. Pretty much everyone already has a 20lb propane tank, or several of them, for their BBQ grill, so I didn't figure that cost into the break-even formula. ...plus, less environmental impact and cost of recycling the single use canisters, which incidentally, California and most likely other states, will be banning the sale of them in the near future. What I DIDN'T like:My order of four (4) Mr. Heater Fuel Kegs (shipped & sold by Amazon) came with them arriving in a thin plastic bag (not even a bubble bag) with no protective packing between them at all. Result, ...scuffed up, and a bunch of chipped paint down to bare steel. Replacements requested, and they came in a box with some crumpled paper, but still not what I would consider as being sufficiently packed and protected. I mixed and matched the best & worst of the 8 kegs, and returned the worst 4 of them back to Amazon.

I bought 5 bottles and the refill kit. On filling the bottles I found that 1 of them was NOT doing what the others had done. The faulty one did not vent. Unfortunately for me it was the first one I tried to fill. So I mucked about checking all the connections. I was quite miffed thinking it was the new style of connection we now have. Anyway I tried another bottle and it vented/hissed, I could hear gas going in and all was well. I mucked around with that first bottle checked the vent as much as I could, made sure the vent hole was open, I could see the vent plunger moving outwards. But no improvement. I could feel that it had taken a small amount of gas. I was thinking that even though it had not vented some gas had been forced in from the larger fill bottle. To confirm this I connected it to a stove and yes it did have some gas. Given all this I wanted to return the bottle and started the process, but of course I even if I let it burn of it's contents through a stove i could not guarantee that it would be devoid of any gas. I spoke with customer service about my concerns of potentially sending a bomb through the mail and they agreed on a one of refund and I was left to get rid of the bottle.Don't let his put you off, the other 4 worked beautifully. They sure do take some gas. I just happened to get a dud in the mix, which has been dealt with. I guess I think on what to do with it.update. I removed the vent assembly and carefully re-connected the bottle to the refill system. I gave it a very small injection of gas to see if in fact it would went out. No luck, whatever is wrong is inside the bottle. I had a half hearted crack at taking the bottle apart. But the brass fitting is very well glued in. I think I'll leave it be.

Look like it had a quick paint job and Rust showing in a few places did not look new for the price I paid of $67. There’s other places you can buy them cheaper. Hopefully they look better than this one I got I reached out to the company, they have not got back to me and it’s been several days. No response.. I would expect at this price. It would’ve been a new tank.

Well, mine doesn’t bleed off either. Just like some other reviewers mentioned my bleeder valve is completely blocked. I kept over filling it as much as my nerves would allow. Plus side is this thing can handle double what it’s rated for. But after you fill it, wait for 5 minutes and you’ll hear it randomly bleed itself off, with the bleeder closed. lol I just can’t trust it, fantasticUpdate - ALL USER ERROR. Beware that this bottle requires you to use the Mr heater branded refill kit. There is a small button that needs depressed inside the threaded collar in order for the bleeder to work. It’s a safety, makes perfect sense and works great

Bought 2 tanks, both rusty, smashed and damaged and they charge as new product.I’ve sent email directly for Mr. heater company and they told me not to use this product as the way it is, even they recommended me to return. If you buy this check if the product is new because what I received as you can see in the pictures is not new at all.

The fuel keg bottle is well built and very solid. You could probably bounce it off the ground without putting a dent in it, but, I wouldn't recommend it. It might go "Boom". The brass connector is really solid also. But, that bleeder valve. Oh! That bleeder valve! I've purchased eight of these bottles , two from this vendor, and four from a local vendor. I've already had to return two bottles because of that bleeder valve. I had no problem getting the defective bottle replaced from the Amazon vendor, nor one bottle from my local vendor. The Amazon return was quick and easy. Just make sure that you vent all of the propane from your bottle before you return it. But, my issue is with that cheaply made bleeder valve. It appears that the little piece that turns to open the bleeder valve is made of some type of aluminum or pot metal. It can already be white with oxidation when you receive the bottle. Several of my "new" bottles were in that condition. One that I bought stopped working at the first opening of the bleeder valve. It hissed with escaping air for about one second and then stopped like it was clogged. I bought another one that worked the very first time that I filled the bottle. The second time I tried to fill it, it started venting, and then just stopped. It was like the turn valve just snapped off intrnally. It would never open again when I turned the valve. So, the Fuel Keg folks need to take another look at their design and make the bleeder valve a little more robust. In the mean time, I would recommend being gentle when trying to open the bleeder valve. You can't force it. It either opens or it doesn't. Just start filling the bottle, and turn on the bleeder valve until you hear it hissing, and hold it there until it's filled. Don't over turn the valve. The good thing is that they can be returned if defective. And when they do work, they work very well, and they make refilling the bottle a quick and easy task.
