For a lower price, this really does a good job. I was nervous that I should have bought the larger size, but it does pretty well with a skein of yarn. I had some velvet yarn that will immediately turn into yarn vomit if you don't watch it. This did pretty well with that yarn. I am glad I didn't get the electric one for the velvet yarn because it wouldn't have made it go faster. I had to stop and get tangles out all the time.It is a tad flimsy, but I knew thay for the price. It does work, and it does take a time or to to get rhe hang of it. It also does matter where tou have your yarn starting on the cylinder.

Why did I wait so long to get this type of winder????? I had an older one for a big box store and this design is leaps and bounds better.Very smooth movement. Clamp stays secure. So quiet too.I am actually happy to get the hanks of yarn now that I have a good winder.

This is made of cheap plastic and just isn't durable. The winder I received arrived with cracks in the plastic already and broke midway though winding a skein of yarn. I'd save money and invest in a better made yarn winder instead of this one. I can't recommend this.

There are several different versions of this type of yarn spinner, and most of them have the same issue… the teeth on the spinning gears become misaligned, and one axis that is required to properly spin the yarn, doesn’t spin it. Almost all of these spinners eventually experience this issue.This issue occurred with this spinner after about 3 skeins of yarn. Unlike competing products, this one cannot be easily opened and once it is opened, there isn’t any real way to get the gears mated again anyway. It is a very poorly made product that is almost guaranteed to eventually fail. It’s just a matter of when.If you decide on a spinner like this, make sure that it is assembled with screws instead of cheap pins like this one so that you can repair it when it fails.
