This set of triangular prisms arrived in a nice looking black cardboard box with an embossed Neewer logo on the top. Each of the prisms inside was placed into a soft foam insert and wrapped with tissue paper to keep them clean, there was also a decent sized microfibre cloth placed into the box which is ideal for cleaning them up after you’ve handled them. Each of the prisms I received are flawless, every edge is cleanly chamfered to remove the sharp edges and corners and there are no blemishes or defects on any of the surfaces of the entire set.If you’re feeling somewhat limited with regard to your creative options when it comes to photography and you aren’t willing or able to do it in post with photoshop, then something like these prisms from Neewer are ideal. They allow you to unlock a new facet of creative photography, as long as you’re willing to spend some time playing around. The most common methods of using these are for kaleidoscope images or for adding reflections of things that are out of frame into your images, almost like a double exposure. To be honest the process & concept is super easy to get started with, depending on the desired effect you can either use autofocus or manual focus for this. Then you just stick the prism in front of your lens and play around until you get the desired effect or stumble onto one that you like the look of. You can end up with some crazy effects that genuinely look like photo composites done in software or with double exposure techniques in film and higher end digital cameras, all it takes is a bit of luck while wiggling a 15cm prism in front of your lens. Just be careful not to damage the coatings on your lens or filter with the glass while waving it around, as it has a similar hardness as your lens.I definitely find the biggest prism to be the most useful one for photography tricks, the other ones work fine, but the bigger one gives you more control and a safer grip without getting your hand in the way. You’ll also spend less time cleaning the prism between uses as the oils from your hands will be on the end you’ve been gripping and not the section you’re using for images. If you’re buying this for the sake of playing around with dispersing light and using it as a learning or teaching prop. Then something to keep in mind is that you’ll want to use it in bright sunlight or with an incandescent torch and a piece of black card with a slit for creating a focused beam of light. Most LED light sources don't have a wide enough band of wavelengths and the light is often focused around blue in the spectrum, though they can sometimes be focused on green or red alternatively. So if you’re having trouble forming a cleanly dispersed rainbow with these prisms, it's not necessarily the fault of the prismThe price is fair for a set of three prisms of this quality in my opinion and I have no issue recommending them at all.

Being a science nerd, I had to get these when they became available. My first impression was that the box they came in was not on the same level of quality that the prisms themselves are. The box is cardboard that is made to look fancy, but was beginning to fall apart. Still, it got the prisms to me safely. The prisms themselves are beautiful. Crystal clear and heavy, with chamfered edges. They just look so cool! They also fingerprint very easily, so the includes microfiber cloth is a plus. However, when I used them to create a rainbow from sunlight I was disappointed. The rainbow image at about 10' distance was tiny! It seems my memory from physics classes (50 years ago) is not too great. To get larger and or multiple rainbows shooting across the room I would need a multifaceted prism, not one like these that have only three sides. So, placing these in a window expecting a rainbow across the room does not work too well.Still, they are beautiful pieces and make for good conversation starters. I will give them a try to see how photography through them might work.

These prisms are beautiful optically clear crystal, uncoated so the incoming and outgoing light aren't affected, and there's no difference in the surfaces. I did not see any flaws and imperfections.Prisms are great for photo effects and enhancing your lighting. I use them for splitting and redirecting lasers, and these behave precisely like a high quality prism should.

This set gives you three different lengths of otherwise identical prisms. They are great for adding lighting effects to photos, experimenting for science education, or just for displaying as a unique art piece/conversation starter in your home or office. The prisms can be stood up vertically next to each other to make a nice display of the three different lengths.

I am not using these for photography but for physics class. They are very heavy and of a large size so they work well. The students can see without using them themselves - they are good for demos. I do allow them to try them hands on but, not the fault of the prisms, they don’t work well in that situation because the students are not careful enough to not get their fingerprints on them.

I did not read the details of the description but given the price, I was expecting them to be much smaller. These prisms are a good size - easily an inch on each face. I have put them in my South facing window among the plants and I now get very pretty rainbows (well, not bows but colors) that travel through my living room during the day.I would imagine these would be very good for educational use - they are packaged in a reusable container that holds them apart from each other, so you do not have to worry about chipping. Again, they are a good size and given the price, I think they are an excellent value.

These are really lovely prisms that make photography a little more interesting. Each one is solid and and can be held up to your lens or placed where you need it without fear of them easily breaking. They perfect for macro shots and work really well with bright sunlight and a wide apature. They come in a decent little cardboard case along with a cleaning cloth. They’d make a nice gift to someone as well.Overall I’m really happy with these prisms and would definitely recommend them.

I have six large windows that get the sun all day. In each window, I have a swag of antique chandelier crystals. I have rainbows across the whole room all day. I also have a photography crystal ball, two crystal cubes and a polycarbonate (maybe acrylic) triangular prism that make rainbows.I couldn't get these to make rainbows. They are beautiful, clear K9 glass, but I tried with different colors of light, different intensities, different angles and direct sunlight. All I could get was white. It makes a neat diamond pattern if you have the light at the right angle, but I couldn't get it to make rainbows At All.They do come nicely packaged in a display or storage box with shaped foam holders and a small microfiber cloth. These fingerprint so easily. I recommend handling with gloves of some sort on. Cheap winter knit gloves work well.

These are just what the description offers. I haven't used them with my camera for pictures, but I have looked through them and they do offer the visuals by looking through them that the product listing photos show. They came well packaged- though the box that had the shaped velvet inside had all the glue holding it together give up the ghost. It stays together as long as the cardboard sleeve that slid around it stays on. I'm not too upset about it though, because it kept them safe as they were shipped. It also came with a nice microfiber cloth to wipe/polish off any finger prints or smudges from touching them.

This set of photographic prisms from Neewer, are a good way to get into making special effects for your photos, but they will take some practice. The quality of the glass is very good, and the three prisms come well protected in a presentation box. The box could be better as it arrived quite damaged. You will need to use the sun, or a white light that covers the full spectrum to get a rainbow effect, as it doesn't seem to work with an LED light source which many torches are these days. Also use the internet to find out how to use prisms for photography. The set of prisms didn't include any instructions at all, and I feel that some form of user manual is necessary with specialist items like these. All in all though, these seem to be good prisms, they just need a little time spent with them to get some really special effects. The attached photo is of an oak tree from my office window, but much more can be achieved with time and practice.

I haven't explored the photographic potential, but these prisms throw brilliant spectrums of light. You need to have a window that gets the sun - facing south, east or west - to get the full effect.
