I tested this adapter in an Asus and a couple of Intel motherboards, and the SSD from a 2013 Macbook Pro, formatted using APFS, was recognized immediately. The test was done using Linux and Windows 10, and neither system required any sort of driver to be loaded. While the format was recognized, neither OS could natively read the proprietary APFS partitions. A reformat would make the SSD available for reading and writing at better than SATA SSD speeds.

This was FAR, FAR cheaper than any other solution to get data/files off of a dead MacBook Air laptop. I knew the HD wasn't the problem with the laptop and why it died, so I got this, took the SSD out, popped it into a PC and was able to rescue all the files. I could have just left it in as an additional HD, but didn't need to. I'll hold onto this in case someone else I know needs the same solution in the future. Can't beat the price!

Der Adapter funktioniert einwandfrei. Um eine Apple SSD auszulesen wird aber Software benötigt.

Only small complaint is the status LED being fairly bright and always on. That’s just my own personal preference, but I’m sure the functionality that brings outweighs any cosmetic nitpicks. Great little adapter.

Cela est parfaitement fonctionnel avec un SSD provenant d'un MacBook Air 2015 ; marque du SSD Samsung, 120 Go de capacité. J'ai pu lire les données avec APFS for Windows de Paragon sans soucis. Bon produit, complet.

There aren't too many cost effective ways to make use of the SSD out of an MacBook Air with the 12+16 pin interface. Since they used a PCI based interface, the external USB cases tend to be expensive, and not worth the price. Just install this into any computer with a PCI-e slot to make use of the extra storage.
