The ax has a light weight wooden handle that is not fingernail soft like a pine does not seem hard enough to withstand use without splintering over time. The head is heavy and decorated with a nice level of embossing. The handle is wrapped with a thin leather hand grip and comes with a sheath for the metal head.In a pinch I could see using this ax to chop wood, but I think this is really designed as a display item; I plan to put it up next to my drinking horn as a little viking themed area. P-)

I would like to preface this by saying 4 and 1/2 stars but I leaned towards 5. This is a gorgeous axe indeed. The blade is very heavy and has a stamped design work on it. The handle is very strong, made with natural wood which wasn't specified and would have been nice to know. It did smell chemically out of the package. The blade wasn't very sharp but that's easy to take care of. Overall, a beautiful axe.

The PAL 2000 KNIVES Handmade Stainless Steel Axe #2062 is really cool. I sharpened it quickly with a #400 grit diamond sharpener, and it became super sharp in just a minute. I tried it out in my backyard and it easily chopped through things. The handle has comfy leather wrapping and a nice shape that feels good in your hand. It's not too heavy, but it's heavy enough to give you good power when you swing it. The axe head seems well-made and firmly attached to the handle.The sheath it comes with is also well-designed, with three easy-to-use button straps. Based on my first use, I think this axe will be a reliable tool for many years. It's great for both precision and strength.

I am beyond words on how excited I was to receive this ax. The craftsmanship is perfect from the handle to the blade. The crae that they took to preserve the blade for shipment told me everything I needed to know about the company. I would highly recommend them to everyone. 5 stars all the way.

This axe is really a work of art! It looks fantastic as you can see in the photos. Beyond that, this is a perfectly functional axe as well. The head is very secure on the wood. The leather wrapping that looks great but also provides a ton of grip as well. Both the wood and the metal heads feel incredibly solid. Love the leather wrap for the head of the axe.The price is a bit more than other similar axes, because they quality is truly there with this one. It looks beautiful but you can also actually use it as a real working axe as well.

This looks okay, although I am pretty disappointed. The handle is a very soft, lightweight wood making this top-heavy than it should be. There is no edge to the blade whatsoever and the embossing on the metal is barely perceptible in places. There are dried glue globs all around the head. It doesn't seem like this would stay together well if used. Unfortunately, I couldn't test that because there is absolutely no edge to it. The listing says this can be for kitchen use but it wouldn't cut anything because it is so dull. The woven grip looks nice and seems firm. It came coated with what I guess is oil, however, it isn't oily; it is very tacky like oil that has been cooked and cooled. Had I paid $119 for this, I would have sent it back immediately. My husband and I like to throw axes and I had hoped this would be useable, especially because it looked so cool in the listing, but it isn't.

This is an awesome axe! It's very well made and looks cool. The wood is strong and well treated. The axe head has really beautiful markings. It looks sharp and probably works although we're using it for a decoration.
