We have to re-learn lessons of 60 years ago. Turntables MUST be grounded to their amplifiers. Hum from AC power is likely common mode, solved by grounding and/or isolating power for both the amplifier and for the turntable. I have begun using 12-volt batteries for preamp power. There is no common ground path and no ripple on the preamp power. Much cleaner sound.

It seemed it would work on my Technics SL-Q300 turntable, but the end, which looked like a banana plug in the photo, did not fit - it was too large. So I had to buy a banana plug ground wire from Turntableneedles.com that fit perfectly and was a higher quality cable, besides.
