  • Prevent Unauthorized Access to anything with an electrical plug with the VoltBolt.
  • Prevent Power Leaks. Stop electronic equipment from drawing power when they are supposed to be off.
  • Works with standard 2-prong or 3-prong plugs.
  • When locked the VoltBolt cuts the power to whatever device that is plugged into it. Simply unlock the VoltBolt to have power and remove the plug (if desired).
  • The Volt Bolt's 4 foot electrical cord makes it easy to keep everything plugged in without having to climb behind home entertainment centers or find a wall plug. Just turn the key and the device is off.

Product Description

The VoltBolt gives you the power to control power!

The VoltBolt is a powerful tool that will add security, safety and parental control to your life. With the turn of a key this product will lock any electrical device that it is attached to and instantly shut off power to that device.

  • Provides security and peace of mind for power tools
  • Saves on energy leaks and unauthorized power usage
  • Locks office equipment - locks the copy machine, locks the laminator, prevents unauthorized use
  • Locks the TV - locks the plug on video game systems or TVs
  • Locks the power plug on any other device without having to unplug it!

The VoltBolt will work with any appliance using an electrical cord with standard 2-prong or 3-prong North American style power plugs.

Voltbolt how it works

How the VoltBolt works:

Plug any electrical device (computer, TV, power tool, kitchen appliance, or any other device with a 2/3 prong outlet) into the VoltBolt, just like you would an extension cord or power-strip. Leave the VoltBolt in the “On” position and the device will operate normally.

When you want to disable the device use the provided key to turn the VoltBolt to the “Off” position and then remove the key. Now, power to the connected device is cut off. The device will NOT operate and the VoltBolt cannot be removed nor power restored until the key is reinserted and the VoltBolt is turned back to the “On” position.

In other words, the VoltBolt gives you the ability to disable any electrical device any time you wish.

You have the “power to control power.”

VoltBolt Uses:

voltbolt security

Security

  • Computers: Keep individuals from accessing confidential information or inappropriate content without the need to remember passwords or use complicated software security systems.
  • Office Equipment/Copy Machines: Eliminate unauthorized use of copy machines and other office equipment without the need for security codes or expensive security accessories.
  • College Students: One of the greatest frustrations occurring with shared living spaces is the unauthorized use of personal electronic equipment. Most of these problems are avoided when the VoltBolt is used to control access to the equipment.
  • Theft Deterrent: Potential thieves may want to reconsider stealing valuable electronics when they see the VoltBolt attached. Even though it may be possible to physically remove the equipment, it won’t work with the VoltBolt locked onto the electrical plug. Unless they have the key to the VoltBolt, stolen goods will be useless since no electrical power will be available to operate the equipment.

voltbolt electricity leaks

Electricity Leaks

If your electrical bill is higher than it should be, more than one possible cause may be in play. The VoltBolt can help you eliminate electricity from being used on connected devices when the key is turned to the "Off" position, which will help reduce your power bill and overall power consumption. The ability to eliminate power completely from attached devices can assist in identifying which devices are using power when you are not around and which devices might be leaking more power than intended. Save money on your power bill today with VoltBolt!

voltbolt parental controls

Parental Control

The VoltBolt was invented in order to provide a tool that would allow parents to control the amount of television, computer, and video game usage by their children. There is no practical way for a parent to lock out a TV, computer, or video game system in their absence without a VoltBolt. Instructing most children not to turn on the TV, computer, or video game system while parents are away is futile. Consequently, children continue to be bombarded with images of violence, sex and other programming detrimental to their health while concerned parents are frustrated with their inability to control their children’s exposure to such programming. The VoltBolt effectively solves this problem - by simply using the VoltBolt as an extension cord, parents can now take full control of when, what, and how much TV, computer, or video games are viewed/used in their households.

voltbolt safety deterrent

Safety

The VoltBolt can be used to limit the risk incurred when unauthorized people attempt to use potentially dangerous equipment.

  • Contractors/Home Builders: Leaving power tools at the job site is a common practice for many contractors. Daily loading/unloading of the equipment is both time consuming and increases the likelihood of damage to the equipment. Using the VoltBolt, the home builder can now simply turn a key to lock out access to equipment and leave the job site knowing the equipment is secure.
  • Home Workshops: Table saws, band saws, drill press, lathes, planers, and other equipment typically found in workshops, presents a significant and real danger to children. Use the VoltBolt as an extension cord connected to this equipment and simply turn the key to lock out the equipment before leaving.
  • Reduced Liability: The VoltBolt can greatly reduce ones exposure to liability due to power tools and other electrical equipment not working or having power when attached/locked to the VoltBolt.

Easy/No Installation!

VoltBolt Easy Installation

Everyone can think of at least one or, more likely, several uses for a VoltBolt in their home or workplace. Moving the VoltBolt from one appliance or tool to another is as simple as unplugging an extension cord from one device and plugging it into another. THAT’S IT! No special wiring required!

We bought four of these and due to the urgency we picked the different keyed solution. No matter, it serves the purpose quite well. One thing I would say in using this product for the first time is turning the key to lock the device with the device plugged in may take a bit force and effort. If your key only turns half the way give it a bit more effort — the product is not a dud, and will work. After you get passed that, if that is a concern, the keys turn effortlessly.Key locks and keys are numbered if you are buying separately keyed products. We used this on four TVs in the house and along with other screen limitation methods on other devices we can lockout all use of screen time.We were originally going to get the BOB-TV product to control screen time but this serves our purpose just as well and allowed us to enable lockout on more devices for about the same cost.

I love these. Very easy to use. Literally just plug your device (I use them for the PS4 and Apple desktop computer) into the outlet end of the Volt Bolt and plug other end of Volt Bolt into wall socket. Then lock volt bolt with key and the device plug cannot be removed from the Volt Bolt and electricity won't flow from the VoltBolt into the device. When locked, the VoltBolt box cuts off flow of electricity from the outlet into the device. When not unlocked, the electricity will flow.Won't work with devices that can run off of battery power (e.g., laptops, tablets, cellphones, MP3 players. Nintendo DS) if the battery is charged because the VoltBolt cuts off supply of electricity to the device not the charged battery inside the device. And with such battery operated devices that have wifi access, kids can also still have access to any online games, etc through the house Wifi, so you need to be able to control their wifi access also. The VoltBolt would be absolutely perfect if instead of a key lock, it had a remote lock/unlock feature that worked off of a cell phone App (for both Android and iPhone) and had a timer system (see Cons below) and the remote control system would alleviate w you to add or subtract minutes. It would be even more perfect if it had a token system where kids could use tokens earned from doing their chores, finishing schoolwork, good behavior, etc, so long as the remote control system could override the token system so parents would still have control.Despite the Cons below, I still like owning the 2 VoltBolts that I have, but I am limited on the number of items they can be used on as per the Cons below.Cons1. The biggest negative, which I think is a big issue is that you lock with a key and the 2 tiny keys included can get lost easily. I think a 5-digit combination lock would be best or at least a key that can be copied so you can have a bunch of spares.2. A remote control feature or one that can be controlled through your cell phone would be better. The item is such a good idea that it would be worth paying for the addition of some sort of remote lock option or the company should sell 3 different options at 3 different price points - key, combo lock, remote control. Or even someway of adding your own combination lock. Remote control by cell phone and/or website would be the best because then you don't to find a place to securely store the keys to the VoltBox or a remote control3. If have an upset or highly agitated child or one that becomes very upset because they may not have time to save their work before you have to lock it or you have multiple children especially a baby or small one whom you have to hold in your hands, it might be difficult to get past the child, or hold a baby, and around to the back of the device, especially if the device is placed on a large TV/gaming unit or some other location where the cords behind the device are not easy to access and then lean down to the floor to lock the Volt Bolt box easily and safety, which is why some sort of remote locking system would be great.4. Some children may be able to pick the lock because it's a very simple key and lock. ( A child with great electrical skills could sever the item cord before it enters the lock box and require it with a new plus but that's almost completely unlimited Kelly.)5. You have to find a really secure area to store the key and also the spare key, otherwise the child could just take the key and unlock it when you're not around.6. The VoktBolt doesn't fully help with a reward/consequence use. The VoktBolt doesn't have any type of timer or token functions - you can't have it be unlocked for X minutes and then it goes off. You can't add X minutes of use for good behavior or to let them finish something up. Without a remote it can't be easily switched off as a consequence for bad behavior will still being used.7. The lack of a remote or timer where you can add minutes, it's not easy to allow a child to save their game or work without your having to keep the device unlocked, which is not good if you have children that try to extend their playing time by saying things such as they have to get to X before they can save.

This is great for controlling the TV or video games from your kids.It is funny that if it is locked they don't complain about it like when you just turn the TV off or say no more.We leave it off during the week and just on for weekends and for some magical reason - with the lock it is ok with them.Psychology they just seem to accept it.But, this product could use some improvements.1. You can not easily mount it - it should have some screw holes if you want to mount it. and I had to use a 'flat' extension plug and a strap to mount it so it was not just hanging.2. It would be nice if the the plug and wire came out the back - a bit awkward. But it does work well ( the plug to your TV gets locked in the unit when you lock it off)And I did not find any other options like this.

Purchased THREE of these after reviewing tons of devices & features that limit TV/Gaming/Computer. Been using these for a few weeks now, so here is our review. We have TWO TV's upstairs (NO.. NOT in the kids rooms, but in mom & dad's room, and the spare room) and the kids PC in the spare room. I have some "to smart for their own good" 12 & 14 year olds that would avoid their chores and also sneaking to use these when we fell asleep, as a result they were:1) tired in the mornings2) wouldn't get ready for school unless I stuck dynamite under them3) behavior &/or inattentiveness at school was becoming a problem due to lack of sleep4) would say they are going upstairs to clean their rooms, but later rooms weren't clean, and all the TV's were left on........NOT ACCEPTABLE!SO.. purchased these and WHALA.. NO MORE ISSUES! These were the SIMPLEST solution out there I could find.HOW? Well, I put these on the TV's power cords (no TV power = NO Video games, NO Movies, NO TV) PERIOD! and one on their PC's main power cord. No work around, unless they have the key. OH.. and for those smarties out there, there are NO extra power cords that fit into the PC anywhere in our home. If I were a kid, I would have thought of that.PROS: - Works GREAT! Just as advertised. Simple turn key operation. - Kids don't give me grief about it, it is like they just "accept" it! Now if I were to yell at them to get off or pack up the games etc, they would throw a fit. This way, they just accept it and move on. Weird I know, but it is what it is, and I don't question it, I just enjoy the benefits. - Kids admit I won, (my teenage daughter even admitted "mom ONE, kids ZERO" on facebook) - to earn TV or PC time, they need to listen, perform well in school, and do their chores, which they now do! - Simple solution, nothing complicated - 2 keys come with every VoltBolt, and if you ever loose all of them, the manufacturer can replace them for a fee - fits 2 and 3 prong plugs - acts like an extension cord, giving a little more distance if neededCONS: - I have to hide or lock up the keys (we have two places we stash them, and treasure maps are in our heads to the booty matey, arrrrrrr) - Plastic box is a little lightweight, one reviewer stated the box broke, but I've had no problems with mine being sound. But, yes, it is rather lightweight. - Key turning mechanism feels a little on the cheap side, but it works and I haven't had any issues with it, so not a deal breaker. - no wall mount, but again, not a deal breaker - It isn't 100% perfect for everyone maybe, but it is close enough for usPurchased these via Amazon.com which had the cheapest place out there, I think they were $25 even. The manufacturer of the VoltBolt website had them for $29.99 plus shipping, but you COULD get them all keyed the same (if you purchased more than one) as an option, to which Amazon didn't offer. But I went for the cheaper price ;-) Thanks Amazon.Anyhoo, there it is in a nutshell. My kids don't get mad at us because these are on. I'm still not sure why, but they always have the option of watching TV with {gulp} their parents downstairs and spending more time with us downstairs. This has helped family time as well. Kids go outside more, and we spend more time together, and we didn't have to totally remove the TV's etc from the upstairs. They just don't get used as much & happy to report the Wii and PC even have dust on them now.SO...it works for our family, and my husband says he wishes we would have got these sooner! So do I.See ya! Gotta go dust off the stuff upstairs.... ;-)
